How should I pack Tangiers in these bowls? Heat issue or pack issue?

Using a Lotus +1 with no foil. Am considering getting a +3 or AOT Provost. I have tried smoking with foil many many times to no success… not sure what I’m doing wrong.

I’m using these tricut coals from LeOrange which look like they are designed for HMDs. 3 is way way too many. I usualllt start with 2 big tricuts kinda sitting in the middle let it preheat 7-10 mins and then pull the lid or open the vents and take a good pill every other minute or two sometimes waiting a few minutes to let the bowl heat back up or cool down…

I know Tangiers is finicky tobacco but this is getting ridiculous.

TL:DR ordered a bunch of Tangiers strawberry lemonade inn addicted to this flavor I’ve had some good sessions running tricuts and lotus.

Any recommendations on how to best pack the rook?

Any other good dark leaf tobaccos out there right now that are super heat resistant and give big clouds and big flavor? Willing to switch brands but I really like Tangiers strawberry lemonade when it will cooperate

Can someone please help? I used to smoke Tangiers regularly but I haven’t in years… been using a Harmony and an alpaca rook X Kaloud with a Lotus +1. I have heavy duty foil and am open to foil but I much prefer the convience of an HMD and phunnel..

I have been experimenting for the past week or two now smoking at least 1-2 bowls a day trying to get this zeroed in and I’ve had maybe 1 or 2 good sessions so far… it’s getting infuriating!

I have so far had the most success using LeOrange tricuts and titanium flats recently been using the doughnut pack method…. I’ve watched a LOT of videos and done a lot of experimenting and note taking what’s the silver bullet to getting a good session every time with Tangiers?? Seems like every coal is too damn big. Even when I split them in half and try to lay them out it’s like nothing ever works or if it does I can’t replicate it!

Any thoughts/advice on the pack and how many coals I should use? I got titanium flats and cubettes LeOrange tricuts and and cocourth LARGE cubes.

Should I just use foil?? I’m honestly my wits end with this Lotus. I bought it cause I wanted to be able to smoke indoors sometimes and also wanted to have to not have to fiddle with it and setting it up so much, but so far it’s just been a pain in the ass. Charring the tobacco damn near everytime.

Been experimenting with all kinds different packs and coal variations.

Also have a HJ Harmony 23 that I think I honestly prefer so far.

Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated been years since I owned a hookah.
