Mixie

Is a mixie a hard haircut to give? I have thin curly hair.

I wanted a mixie but I made the mistake of going to a cheap place to get a haircut.

I just don’t feel like paying $100 for someone to cut my 5 hairs.

I feel like a mixie is possible with my hair and maybe the stylist I went to was just shitty.

I like the modern razor cut mixie.

She gave me an old lady Karen type of hair cut and a bad attitude.

When I walked in she asked what I wanted and I said I have an IG video she was so rushed and rude and just said I don’t have time for that just take a picture then show me. She also said I’ve been cutting hair for 38 years I know what I’m doing (clearly she didn’t) I take the picture and she’s like I can’t see that so I tried to google mixie and show her. She then tried to talk me out of it so I just gave up and said yeah whatever.

I’m open to the possibility that the cut is not possible with my hair type but I’m also curious for the opinion of other professionals in this field. I’ll try to find a decent picture of my hair type.

Products you love?

Ive read here recommendations for scalp massages and sandalwood brushes for smell.

Are there any specific products or brands experts here can recommend? I just tried to google sandalwood brush and was overwhelmed with options 😅

Also BBB are super expensive 😬 so what’s a good brand you love?

I’m trying WO and in the past I’ve had a dry itchy scalp with dandruff.

I’ve started doing vinegar rinses and now I’m doing better but I want to make sure I’m doing the mechanical cleaning correctly.

I think I’ve found my people. Worst haircut ever. Many tears cried.

I’ve had thin hair my whole life now two kids later and pp it’s the thinnest it’s ever been,

I went to the salon to chop it off and I’ve just moved to a suburb in Florida so I’m new and didn’t know where to go I went to a place close by for convenience

The hairdresser made me cry and gave me the worst cut ever.

She rushed through the whole thing and asked me if I was sick because my hair was so thin.

She made me feel so shit when I’m already feeling fat and ugly 5 months post partum.

I just wanted to say it in here to a group of people who understand the feeling.

Do some people here use wigs? I don’t even know where to start but I think maybe if I want to feel better about myself sometimes I’d wear a wig…..

Hair loss - no poo - routine

Hello, I’m new to Reddit and new to no poo so please forgive me for any mistakes in posting here!

I am 6mo PP and have lost a ton of hair. My hair was already thin to begin with so this really sucks for me.

I’ve been trying no poo for a year or two now and it’s not great I was having itchy scalp and flakes.

Now that my hair has been shedding so much I’m really diving into Reddit and YouTube and googling things that help with hair loss and trying to come up with a good routine and I wanted to post here to see if yall could give me some advice to make sure I’m not doing anything dumb…..

I’ve read a lot and I’ve decided as a busy mom of two working full time here are the things I am going to try

  1. Egg washing
  2. ACVinegar rinses
  3. Oiling: castor oil, rosemary essential oil, cedar wood essential oil, (eventually I’ll add lavender and tea tree but wallet is tight)
  4. Onion juice
  5. Fenugreek water/tea rinses

From things I’ve read here, on Katherine hair care YouTube, and on some hair loss Reddit posts I know

  1. Egg wash —- once a week
  2. ACV - once a week
  3. Oil - up to twice a week
  4. Onion - can be done twice a week
  5. Fenugreek - can be done daily??

I think we have hard water I’m in Martin county Florida
My hair is curly, my scalp gets dry, my hair is brittle and breaks easy

Here is the routine I was thinking of implementing

Saturday: onion juice
Sunday: oil
Monday: rest
Tuesday: egg & AC vinegar
Wednesday: oil
Thursday: rest
Friday: rest

I do have a boar bristle brush that I use I try daily but it didn’t really help my itchy scalp situation

For the fenugreek water tea rinse I’ve read some people make it and use it daily as a spray. I was planning to do the same.

Any thoughts or feedback would be greatly appreciated!
