I haven't seen many recommendations of what to do connection wise on other channels so I'll share my research in case it's helpful to anyone. I've come across regional eSIM plans, I've tried normal eSIM plans for a country before but never a regional one.

RedteaGo has plans for $20 - 10 GB - 30 days, seems like a good price compare to what I've found but never heard of them.

Airalo and Holafly are the most common but very expesive, especially for regional plans.

ZIM Connections I've used a couple of times for single country plans and always works ok plus they are affordable, 10 GB for 30 days is around $25

Reddit recommended PureVPN local plans if not but the Mexico ones are very expensive on any provider I've found.

As plans for Mexico are very expensive everywhere I think a regional plan is the best way to go.

I made a post a couple of weeks ago asking for Brazil data recommendations as normally you need a CPF to get a SIM card and eSIMs are expensive for longer stays, a lot more expensive than in other countries. I am here now and here's what happened in case anyone needs this.

Getting a SIM card is hard, but doable. I ended up buying a VIVO (the best provider in the area) at a kiosk and ask for a friend to lend me his CPF to get it done, you set it up thought the app and a link but it was not working so I had to end up going to a store and bring my friend with me, wouldn't have worked either way, so a hustle but now I get very cheap internet a good coverage as I'll be here for 2 months.

This took me a couple of days until I could solve it so I just got an eSIM for the first coupld of days, I used the ZIM Connections one and it worked well, got 5 GB.

Another potential option if you are coming from another South American country and have a Claro SIM is to purchase a roaming plan with them, I had one in Argentina but couldn't make it work.

Anyway hope this helps in case anyone is coming for a longer stay, if it's a short stay: just get an eSIM, not worth the hustle.
