What’s something you secretly wish people understood about introverts?

For me, it’s that being quiet doesn’t necessarily mean I’m uncomfortable, bored, or have nothing to say.

Sometimes I actually have a lot to say. I’m just deciding whether the conversation is worth stepping into.

And honestly, I think there’s a weird contradiction with being introverted:

I can spend an entire evening perfectly happy on my own, but then randomly meet one person I genuinely click with and suddenly I could talk to them for five hours.

What’s something about being introverted that you think extroverts consistently misunderstand?

And what’s one thing you wish people would stop assuming about you just because you’re quiet?

Update: So… apparently I’m going on a date with my neighbour 🫣

Thanks for all the comments and advice on my last post. I honestly didn't expect that many people to care about my little neighbour drama 😂

I talked to her today and… yeah. We’re going out.

Which is great, except now I have no idea what I'm doing.

Where would you actually go for a first date with someone you already kind of know? Coffee? Drinks? Dinner? Something simple where we can just talk without it feeling too much like a “date”?

And what’s the deal with paying?

Do I just offer to pay for both of us, or is splitting the bill more normal now? I don't want to make it weird either way. 🫣

Would genuinely appreciate some advice from people who have more of a clue than I do.

Update: I really should have learned my lesson about my neighbour.

A few hours ago I posted about accidentally flirting with my neighbour after she told me I looked good and I completely embarrassed myself trying to respond.

I thought that would be the end of it.

It wasn't.

A couple moment later, I was carrying groceries upstairs when I heard someone behind me say, “Careful, don't walk into the wall this time.”

I turned around.

It was her.

Apparently she had been there when I walked into the wall while trying to escape our last awkward conversation.

We both started laughing.

I said, “At least I'm consistent.”

She looked at me for a second and said, “You know, you're actually quite funny when you're embarrassed.”

I probably should have just smiled and walked away.
