Need help for bad IMC with 9800x3d

Need help for bad IMC with 9800x3d

Hi guys,

these days i was trying to improve my 6200 CL28 setup with Testmem5 testing.

I also put Y-crucher among the test and with my surprise 1,2 Vsoc with 3100 UCLK was unstable, so i kept increasing Vsoc with 10 mV steps until 1,28. Then i lowered from 3100 to 3000 UCLK, but no luck.

I also tried with PBO off and GDM on, no luck again.

At this point i'm wondering if i have an a$$ IMC or Y-cruncher VT3 is bugged or something.

Also tried ask to Gemini (which i know, is so bad for overclocking) and suggested me to raise VDDGs to 0,95 V. Again, no luck.

What could that be?

(off-topic note: i can't set tRFC lower because i don't have a ram fan and ambient temperature is 30 C, here in Italy is insanely hot. Memtest5 crashes after 2 hours).

VDD/VDDQ set to 1,45 V but for some reason every now and then Zentimings reads 1,47 VDDQ.

Edit: tried Nitro 2/3/1 with EXPO (7000 CL32, UCLK 1750 in 2:1 mode), no chance.

Thanks in advance.

Can't stabilize 8000 CL36 setup

Hi guys,

i'm having a hard time stabilizing DDR5 8000. Motherboard is B850 Aorus Elite, ram sticks are 7000 CL32 Patriot Viper A-die.

Tried loosening all the subtimings like crazy, tried also CL38/40, putting 1/3/2 Nitro, 1.5 V VDD/VDDQ, disabling PBO but no luck at all.

What could that be? Temperatures are on the high side but i loosened tREFI and tRFC like crazy. And most importantly with another 6200 CL28 post that i did these temperatures were fine and weren't throwing any errors: https://www.reddit.com/r/overclocking/comments/1ttmqpw/6200_cl28_setup/

Thanks for the help.

6200 CL28 setup

Hi guys,

i managed to finally run a stable daily setup.

Specs:

- B850 Aorus Elite WIFI 7

- 9800X3D -30 CO, +200 MHz

- Patriot Viper 7000 CL32 (A-die?)

Some months ago i noticed that i bought the "wrong" ram kit since it was running with 2:1 ratio and i had insanely high latencies. I didn't noticed any problems to be honest, but when i discovered this issue i committed for adjusting timings and this is the result.

Tried also 6400 MT/s CL28 but failed since i want to keep Vsoc quite low.

Passed some hours of Anta777 extreme and prime95 with no issues. Temperatures were on the high side with an average of 54 C but i have 28 C room temp. Maybe it's because i have a Phanteks XT View with the two lateral fans turned (so they are in intake), 360mm AIO on top, one 1400 rpm 120mm exhaust fan in the rear and 3x Phanteks T30 set to 2400 rpm on intake on PSU shroud. Every fan during the test was almost cranked to the max.

I wanted to lower tRFC at 384 but it wasn't stable for some reason. I was also worried that GDM disabled could introduce instability but turned out completely fine.

I got almost a 4% increase in average FPS in Cyberpunk which honestly shocked me quite a bit. Wasn't expecting that much. And also the general microstuttering seems to have gotten a bit better, but i don't know if it's a placebo effect lol.

Any constructive suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Patriot Viper 7000 CL32 tuning

Hi folks,

since i'm quite new to this world, i would like to have some tips on my first ram tuning. (Zentimings screenshot attached below)

Passed Anta777 2h at a maximum temp of 54 C, with a room temperature of 29 C. (Yeah i know this is high, in Italy these days are absolutely insane heat wise).

I have some questions:

  1. I noticed that lowering Nitro from 2/3/1 to 1/3/1 gave me a whole 1 ns decrease according to Aida64. What is Nitro exactly? Can i lower it even more?

  2. Which next subtimings are to be improved, and which could be the next steps?

  3. It is better to push 6400 MT/s CL28 or 6200 MT/s CL26? Or it is better to stay at 6200 CL28 in order to avoid too much stress on the CPU IMC and keep optimizing the secondary subtimings? (Also because increasing Vsoc scares me a lot, i'm afraid to burn the cpu lol)

  4. I don't know if it's true or not, but pushing above 7600 MT/s with 2:1 mode latency wise can compete with 6000 1:1 mode. Can I leave the timings on auto and try the stability with increasing DRAM frequency setting in the bios? My motherboard (B850 Aorus Elite) is "capable" of 8200 MT/s.

  5. I saw a Buildzoid's guide and he said that pushing tRAS doesn't make sense at all with AM5 platform (in fact in a video he set tRAS very loose, above 100 if i'm not mistaken). But i also saw on the internet that tRC=tRP+tRAS. Is this relation between these three timings true? Because apparently most people don't apply this relation.

  6. FCLK should be UCLK/3. Is this relation true? Probably yes because before i was running with FCLK set to 2166 and saw no improvements with such high FCLK.

  7. Which timings are prone to give instability the most?

  8. I never had to clear CMOS until now. Am I lucky or I haven't still pushed all the way?

  9. I saw that in a lots of posts gear down mode needs to be disabled. What that exactly is? Can turning it off cause instability?

  10. I don't know if matters something, i'm running the PBO with -30 curve optimizer and +200 MHz offset.

Keep in mind that i want to run a very good daily RAM setup.

Thanks in advance!
