Why does Nivea creme work and look better than 99% of hair products?

Hey everyone,

I’m reaching out because I’m stuck in a weird styling loop. I have very thick, stubborn hair that refuses to be tamed. I’ve tried countless highend pomades, clays, and waxes, but 99% of them do absolutely nothing for me. My hair either eats the product and springs back to its frizzy, wavy self, or looks dull and limp/boring after an hour.

The only thing that actually gives me the look I want is, weirdly enough, Nivea Creme (the blue tin) and to a lesser degree CeraVe Moisturizing Cream.

When I apply Nivea to damp hair, for the first 5 minutes while it’s still in that white residue phase, my hair looks incredible. It’s heavy, nourished, perfectly formable, and has a glassy, high health radiance. All frizz and unwanted bends are gone. But as soon as it dries/absorbs, the laminate vanishes, and my hair structure springs back up and gets frizzy again.

What im looking for

I need actual hair product (available in EU) that mimics those first 5 minutes of Nivea Creme but makes it permanent and stable throughout the day.

I’ve realized I need a high-weight, water-soluble laminator that acts as a permanent topcoat. It needs to:

  1. Mimic the physical barrier: Seal the cuticle flat and fill in the gaps like a heavy cream.
  2. Provide Weight: Not just "hold," but actual heaviness to kill the natural spring/bend of my thick hair.
  3. Healthy Finish: Give that glassy, deep-conditioned glow, not the greasy/oily look of a classic petroleum grease (I've tried Murray’s, hated the finish).
  4. Scalp Healthy: I want to keep my scalp healthy, so I prefer something that doesn't clog everything up (however I will definitely wash out every night)

Current failed attempts:

  • Cantu/Shea Leave-ins: Hair feels soft but looks dull and loses shape instantly.
  • Standard Water-based Pomades: Usually too thin; they evaporate and my hair frizzes up.

I’ve been looking into things like Color Wow One-Minute Transformation, O'Douds Heavy Hold, or Layrite Supershine, but I have wasted so much money on useless products so I want to hear from the experts here.

Does anyone with thick, impossible hair have a recommendation for a product that provides that heavy, creamy, laminating effect without the dirty feel of a traditional grease?

Thanks in advance
