First Time Removing a Stick Module

Figured you guys would appreciate a post that isn't "halp, I destroyed my dualsense" 😅

First photos show the aftermath, the last two – preparation steps, diluting factory solder

Photo 1, 2, 3: macro shots of removed stick module through-holes

Photo 4: most of factory-solder sucked out using a desoldering pump, before wicking and hot-air

Converted my PS5 console adapter to USB-C 😍

Seriously, stop making Micro-USB devices in this day and age.

Here we have a ReaSnow S1 adapter for the PS5, which came with a Micro-USB connector that was nearly worn out after years of use. At first, I considered designing an overlay flex PCB, but then I stumbled upon these drop-in USB-C adapters that match the Micro-USB footprint.

The catch is that they don't provide much mechanical strength and don't have castellated pads. Still, I managed to make it work by soldering to the sides of the PCB and reinforcing everything with two-part epoxy.
