My husband bought me a popsmith for mother's day. The first batch I did as directed with 1/2 cup kernels and it was perfect. The 2nd I did 1/4 cup and the oil leaked out of the popper down the sides and then some kernels burned. Any tips on how to not burn?

Also, what is your favorite premium popcorn kernels? We've been loving Amish Country but I'd like to try something new. TIA
