I just wanted to put it out there. If you live near a Winco, the bulk white popcorn is SOO GOOD! with coconut oil it is the best popcorn I’ve ever had. It’s so light and crispy. Dirt cheap too. I make mine in a whirly pop!
We got an old jug of this Act II Buttery Popcorn Salt from my highschool popcorn machine they didn't use anymore. It was so good, on its own or mixed with butter.
They don't make it anymore. Anyone familiar with it, can you recommend an equivalent replacement?
I'm also forever chasing the dragon of whatever this little independent movie theater in my old hometown used, they had a shaker on the counter labeled "popcorn salt" and it was the absolute most buttery salty stuff ever, but it would kinda peel your tongue eventually it was so salty lmao
I love hot sauce on popcorn! Add powdered cheddar cheese seasoning and hot sauce and I'm in popcorn heaven
I haven't tried it, and I'm not really sure what to do with it. Has anybody else here tried it?
How come if you’re cooking a single layer of popcorn in oil on the stove top all the kernels don’t pop at once?
All the reviews on Amazon say that what is labeled as mushroom is just regular popcorn.
Hey!
I’m looking for a good popcorn machine for home use and would love some recommendations.
I want something that makes really good movie-theater-style popcorn, is easy to clean, reliable and will last for years.
I’ve been looking at Gold Medal, HENDI and Royal Catering, but I’m not sure which one is actually worth buying.
What would you guys recommend?
Any models you’ve had good or bad experiences with?
These are my favourite! I've been trying to lower the heat when I pop, make sure the steam can escape. I still get the same amount.
Any tips are greatly appreciated!
I was looking at getting a 16oz popcorn machine when we normally do fine with 8oz + little currently.
Wondering has anyone done smaller batches on the 16oz machines before? Never an issue with the 8oz size but thinking about replacing it as its having issues with full batches slightly at this point.
Also with people growing up in the house more popcorn in the future I suspect would be a positive.
Last week I had a tooth unexpectedly pulled. It sucks but what has sucked the most is not eating popcorn! I can't eat popcorn for 2-4 weeks and it's driving me crazy. I feel crazy to be this sad about & consumed with not being able to eat popcorn. I'm having dreams about it, craving it all hours of the day, and fantasizing about how it'll be when I finally can eat it again.
It's wild to even share this but if anyone will get it, I think it will be my popcorn loving pals in this sub.
Please eat some popcorn on my behalf 🙏

This just happened tonight, but let this be a lesson for you all.
I opened and used some louana liquid coconut oil. Still within the expiration date, but I must have had it a bit longer than I thought or something. It didn't smell off before cooking, and it didn't look any different, but when I put in a bit and turned on the kettle, the difference was immediate and painful.
The smoke that comes from rancid oil is insanely potent, it burns your throat and lungs. It tasted like the same acidic taste you get after getting sick, but times 100.
The house absolutely reeks and I have fans going with candles and incense. Not much has fixed it.
I plan on doing a deep clean on my machine tomorrow (8oz lincoln machine) after the smell dims a bit.
If you are worried about old oil, even if its in the expiration date, just put a tiny amount in, and turn on the kettle.
Question is in the title. Is there a widely available brand of gee in the US that r/popcorn likes a lot. I understand gee is similar but not the same as basic clarified butter, which is easy to make. However, if someone didn't want to make it, which one should they look for?
The first time I used coconut oil to make popcorn, it kind of tasted like the movie theater stuff. I then reasoned that if I add butter, it'll get even closer to that taste. Of course butter is not good for making popcorn because the milk proteins burn easily. So I reasoned further and thought of using a combination of ghee and coconut oil.
It was... heavenly. Gave such a wonderful flavor that was really close to the microwaveable kind, just without all the bad stuff.
One tip though: use a lot. I can't give an amount but make sure it's slightly covering the kernels in the pot and not just coating them. It'll make the popcorn really fluffy and flavorful.
Lmao this is such a silly post but when I was a kid I hated Popcorn. Now as an adult I love it and want to know how you guys fix up your popcorn. I bought some movie butter from target but I want either something just like the theaters or something unique and tasty (:
