[Academic Research] Have you stopped using Instagram? Participate in a study on Instagram use and psychological well-being (18–25)

Hi everyone!

I’m a psychology undergraduate conducting a research study on the experiences of young adults who have either discontinued Instagram use or currently remain active users.

I’m looking for participants aged 18–25 who are currently enrolled in college/university.

You may be eligible if you:

Currently use Instagram and have been using it for at least 6 months, OR

Have deleted/deactivated your Instagram account or stopped accessing Instagram for at least 3 months.

The study explores the relationship between Instagram use/discontinuation and factors such as self-esteem, self-compassion, social comparison, and social relationships.

The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary and responses will be kept confidential/anonymised.

If you meet the criteria, I would really appreciate your participation:

If you have stopped using Instagram, I would especially appreciate you participating or sharing this with someone who has. This group is particularly important to the study and, understandably, is a little harder to find. 😭

I rolled my OnePlus Nord CE4 back to OxygenOS 15 today, and I genuinely wish I had never updated to OxygenOS 16.

The difference was obvious.

The phone feels noticeably faster and smoother. Apps open quicker, animations feel more responsive, and the overall experience is just lighter. On OxygenOS 16, everything felt a bit heavier, like the software was asking my mid-range phone to carry more than it comfortably could.

What surprised me the most is how much cooler the phone runs now. On OxygenOS 16, the device always felt slightly warm, even during normal use. Nothing alarming, but enough to notice. On OxygenOS 15, it feels calm again. Like it finally stopped trying to prove something.

Battery life also seems better. I know it takes a few days to settle after a rollback, but the idle drain already looks lower.

Another thing I missed is the notification shade. OxygenOS 15 has those clean dark black notifications that look much better to me. The grey notification panel in OxygenOS 16 never looked as polished.

Personally, I feel like OxygenOS 16 is better suited for flagship devices with more headroom. On a budget or mid-range phone like the Nord CE4, OxygenOS 15 simply feels more optimized.

The rollback process was a bit stressful, and for a moment I thought I had lost my WhatsApp chats, which was a delightful little heart attack courtesy of modern technology. Thankfully, everything restored from backup.

After using OxygenOS 15 again, I honestly regret updating to OxygenOS 16 in the first place.

Anyone else feel that OxygenOS 15 is the better experience on mid-range OnePlus phones?
