BNSF-Tech Staff Engineer – How long does it usually take to hear back after the full interview loop?

Hi everyone,

For those who recently interviewed for a Staff or Senior Staff Engineer position at BNSF, how long did it take to hear back after completing the full interview loop?

I completed my full loop a couple of weeks ago and haven’t received any updates yet. I’m curious whether this is a normal timeline and how long others have waited before hearing back.

Any recent experiences or insights would be appreciated. Thanks!

Note: I tried posting this in BNSF Tech - https://www.reddit.com/r/bnsftech/, but it appears to be locked, with no new posts in the past few months. I’m posting here instead and hope the admins can look into it.

BNSF Tech Interview Timeline – 3 Months In and Still Waiting

Has anyone here gone through the tech hiring process at BNSF recently? I'm trying to understand what the typical timeline looks like these days.

Here's my situation:

  • Applied in March
  • Completed the online assessment
  • Had a recruiter screening in March
  • Completed a technical interview and system design round by the end of March
  • Was told afterward that I had successfully cleared those rounds and would be moving forward in the process - Loop round (final one i hope)

Since then, things have been very unclear. I've followed up with the recruiter multiple times over the past couple of months, but I seem to get a different answer every time. Sometimes it's "waiting on scheduling," other times it's "still under review," etc.

The strange part is that I haven't received a rejection, but I also haven't been scheduled for any additional interviews. It's now been almost 3 months since the process started.

Has anyone experienced something similar with BNSF recently? Is it normal for the process to stall this long after positive feedback from the interview team? Should I still be optimistic about hearing back, or is this typically a sign that the role is on hold?

Would appreciate hearing about your experiences and timelines. Thanks!
