Confused...

I recently applied for 2 positions - SDE II frontend & full stack and I got OAs for both of them & when I finished my frontend OA, the other OA link got expired automatically, I went thru all the interview process & unfortunately I was not selected for the SDE II frontend, but I do see my other application (SDE II Full stack) being "Under review". Does this mean I still have a shot or I should stop hoping at this point?

I know it’s an enclosed district but I know I could get forced just wanted to see out of classes where seniority would lie.

Is it worth applying to BSNF for diesel mechanic with my experience?

Hello. I've been working on cargo ships and oil tankers the last year or so. I've been working as the lowest level position in the engine room, so by and large my job has been wiping and mopping the engine room, but I've assisted with fuel and oil purifier/delivery repairs, pump repairs and replacements, and oil changes and fuel injector/fuel line repairs on main engines and our diesel generators. All to say, I'm not like an ASE certified years long mechanic, but I do know a little and have a bit of experience. I also learn very quickly and am very hungry for more knowledge. Would this be enough for a Mechanic or Tech position at BSNF?

Needles

I have been chasing for a couple years and still can’t hold my home terminal.
Can anyone tell me what it is like working in Needles, CA? Where is a good place to “set up base”…Needles, Bullhead City or Lake Havasu? Can you suggest an RV Park? Any suggestions are appreciated. Snarky comments discouraged.

Didn't get the Conductor job

Didn't get the job, I interviewed yesterday and the next day they sent me an email that I was not chosen for a position. Not sure what happened, everything seemed like it was going really well and they seemed to like me and were impressed by my resume. 🤷‍♂️ After a phone call to their HR to ask if there was anything I could improve on for next time, they said they don't offer feedback and do not call them again. Really rude and really off putting when all I wanted was to see if next time I apply if there was any experience they'd like me to have. Idk, weird experience overall.

The BLE is completely useless

The BLE has become a complete and utter failure of a union. I don't remember the last time they've done something good. They're very obviously bought out by the railroads. I think the only way to get their attention at this point is to become dues objectors and hurt their wallet. If we don't put them in a position where they're losing money, we're never going to get assistance when things matter. It's way past time that we actually do something to make the union realize that they actually have to do their jobs.

It's Been 10 Years Since The Panhandle, TX, BNSF head-on Train Collision.

On June 28th, 2016, Two BNSF Intermodal Trains going opposite directions were passing through Texas.

The Westbound Train had BNSF 5416, BNSF 7553, BNSF 7907, BNSF 8191, BNSF 5212 and around 54 Intermodal Cars. The Train left Wellington, KS at 2 AM.

The Eastbound Train had BNSF 5162, BNSF 7838, BNSF 3967, another 54 Intermodal Cars, DPUs BNSF 8234 and BNSF 3970. The Train left Amarillo, TX at 7:25 AM.

At 8:21 AM The Trains were passing through Panhandle, TX next to a siding where two uncoupled Eastbound BNSF engines, 7911 and 5451 where seating when BNSF 5416 West and BNSF 5162 East collided head-on with BNSF 5162 going 47 MPH and BNSF 5416 going 37 MPH causing a big fire.

The two crew members on BNSF 5162 and The Conductor of BNSF 5416 died in the crash.

The Engineer of BNSF 5416 jumped off the engine before the collision and only had minor injuries.

The lead Locomotives BNSF 5416 and BNSF 5162 were completely destroyed, BNSF 7838 and BNSF 3967 were buried when 21 Intermodal Cars piled on top of them, BNSF 7553s cab was completely destroyed, BNSF 7907 and BNSF 8191 only had little damage with BNSF 7907s noise right in front of BNSF 3967, BNSF 5212 was ripped apart when 5 Intermodal crashed into it from the stop, BNSF 7911 and BNSF 5451 were undamaged.

This crash was The Worst Train Wreck in BNSF's History and The Worst in Texas Since The 2002 Clarendon Train Collision.

The pictures are from The Forward Facing Video Cameras on BNSF 7907, first picture, BNSF 8191, second picture and BNSF 7911, third picture.

The reason why the Trains collided was because BNSF 5162 passed a red stop signal where they were supposed to wait for BNSF 5416 to pass because The Engineer had Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Poor Sleep Quality and The Conductor had Sedating Medication taken before his shift.

As for what happened to the Locomotives, BNSF 5162, BNSF 7838, BNSF 3967, BNSF 5416, BNSF 7553 and BNSF 5212 were deemed a total loss and were scrapped, along with the derailed Intermodal Cars.

BNSF 7907 and BNSF 8191 were used as spare parts until 2020 when they were repaired and returned to service and are still around today, along with BNSF 8234, BNSF 3970, BNSF 7911 and BNSF 5451 which were undamaged.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the 3 crew members who died, the engineer who survived and their families.

Alternate status

I just did my interview and got selected as alternate what are the chances I get offered a job? I'd assume someone would have to quit or fail something but everyone at the interview was experienced in railroad and construction so I don't see them failing. They said there were seven positions and only seven people interviewed so I don't really know if they made a change or just don't want me.

Drug Test for job?

So I had an interview today for a conductor trainee position and I was under the impression that I would be taking a hair sample drug test at the interview event but it didn't happen, does that happen after an offer is made or did I somehow miss it?

Signalman Apprentice - Minneapolis

Anyone from the Minneapolis area? I just applied for a signal apprentice opening for BNSF and I was wondering about what's it like to work as one in this area.

Background: Currently an Electrician Apprentice with a cub card right now, exploring other adjacent roles that are similar to Inside Wireman.

How far do you have to travel from HQ to be a maintainer? How's the work/home life? How big is the seniority district here?

Rules question

Is there a rule stating whether or not you can ride in the back of a moving vehicle? Example: we were moving the section truck around the yard and an employee wanted to ride in the bed. Is this allowed?
