Another week of fighting incoming? Lithuania attacked the Finnish capital, with great help of Belgian troops (top damage of the battle), our alliance manages to secure yet another capital city in Europe!

Today is an important day, all Belgians do their monthly duty of going to the voting booths in search of a new president! LouisG-Boulanger is not running for re-election so we will see a new name with the sparkling star next to it. Who will be in charge the coming 30 days? Keep reading to figure it out! Disco in Belgium?
While other countries across the world are coloring themselves green to celebrate Italian republic day. Belgium decides to remain in it's tradition of the last day of the government term to be total chaos! We started the day as red, followed by orange, yellow, green, blue and shades of purple.
The smart readers among you might have noticed, those are the colors of the rainbow! A celebration of the pride month. However, Belgium ended the day in a color that's honestly so ugly that I would rather see us being wiped than having to look at that abomination every time I open War Era.

Country tournament!
Tonight a last-minute announced country tournament started. We got matched with our best friends, The Netherlands! The two hardest hitting countries from our alliance! Our opponents included Chile, France and Japan. It was an amazing fight! jets and tanks flying in from both sides, it was truly a Final in the very first round. It was very close, but unfortunately we got eliminated in the first round in the very last tick, it was an amazing fight nevertheless!

Today, congress elections start, candidates can register themselves. 34 candidates have registered, there are 22 seats for taking. Discord rework finished
The Department of Internal Affairs finished the Discord rework. There are now a couple of optional roles that you can get which gives you access to certain channels. Go check it out on our Discord. And if I may suggest a role to choose for you: we could really use some help in the Recruitment department, getting that role gives you pings when people post things on our subreddit, all you have to do is open the link and give it an upvote and comment. A small gesture that can help a lot with getting new players to Belgium!

Monday:
The Netherlands on their way to Stockholm
After taking over Oslo last week, The Netherlands continue marching towards Stockholm. In Dalarna & Värmland, the Swedes and the Dutch put up a great fight, a true spectacle! Belgium marks second in damages done on Dutch side, the bond between the two countries seems unbreakable. Victory for the Netherlands, who continue marching through Swedish land!
Berlin part II
After a failed attempt to take over Berlin through Denmark, allied forces gave it another shot. The Germans with their huge population however managed to keep us out of their capital once again. Italy did manage to take over Saxony in the meanwhile, and Luxembourg managed to break free of German occupation once again during the battles. Germany kept their capital, but at what cost? Only Brandenburg and Lower Saxony remain, Bavaria & Baden-Württemberg are disconnected and will likely be let go.
End of Belgian donation campaign
The last gazette announced a donation campaign to raise money to fund our wars. The Belgians raised, in total: 47 051,968 BTC ! The Minister of Economy expresses his gratitude and promises the money is well spent!

The Belgian invasion continues
After taking over Great Britain last week, it was only a matter of time for Belgium to continue it's campaign into Ireland. Monday night, the first Belgians marched into Northern Ireland. They were met with heavy resistance, but when the sun rose on Tuesday, more Belgian and allied troops arrived. Ireland gave it their all, it was a great battle, but another victory secured for Belgium!
A new Minister of Defense for Belgium
The Minister of Defense, Rups, is very busy doing non War Era related stuff. As we are currently in full war mode, Babu is going to replace him until the end of this term. Good luck Babu and thank you for your service Rups!
Congress member Efilwol impeached
A minor incident last week caused Efilwol to leave our Discord, there was hope he would come to his senses in the coming days, but he seems to have quit the game. To keep our congress as efficient as possible, a law has been placed to impeach him. We thank Efilwol for his service to our country, and I hope he returns someday!
Northern France liberated
We have released Northern France back to our good friends in France, holding that region was not very beneficial as France fought with a -50% debuff for us. We did swap all the beer barrels to Jupiler & Stella Artois before we left, you're welcome neighbors!

Stockholm has fallen
Not only did our troops have a victory in Northern-Ireland, The Netherlands managed to take over the Swedish capital. A complete wipe of Sweden is only a matter of time. Congrats to our Dutch brothers
Berlin part III
Truth be told, our enemies have been holding their fort in Berlin strong for now. Wednesday, Italy attacked the German capital. The third attack in a week time. Third time the charm for our alliance, or will the German flag remain at the top of the Bundestag?
Belgian-Dutch war coming?
It's commonly known that the Belgians and the Dutch are two peas in a pod in this game. Nothing seems to be getting in the way of the brotherhood between us and our neighbors. Except for our Swedish friend, who claims this:

I'm lucky my well paying career as a War Era journalist no longer requires me to go to school, but for some Belgians, 'de blok' is starting, no gift, and definitely in this hot weather. Belgium achieved 3 billion total damages. Two Belgian MUs are in the top 10 for total weekly damages, congrats to The Schtroumpfs and Belgian Black Devils. Belgium is currently third in weekly damages. We are top in damage in so many battles. I must say that I am very proud to share these numbers, well done Belgians!

What a heavy fights we have seen the last days. Every country of the BEER alliance have felt our strength. Belgium was outputting the most damage of our alliance! Great work everyone!

The presidential elections are coming up first, but also candidacies for congress have already been posted by eager candidates. Discord will contain the articles for all candidates, there's even already articles on people who not to vote for! I suggest all Belgians to have a good look before the elections come up and make a well informed vote!

Belgium Armed Forces revolt kings
A revolt happened yesterday in Sorlandet by Norway (occupied by The Netherlands). The Belgium Armed Forces MU were top MU in this battle, doing half of all the damage coming from Belgium!

Contract chaos
Commanders need nothing more than this title to know what I'm talking about. Figuring out how much damage your MU can do, requesting contracts left and right, waiting, some more waiting, only to get underbid by an allied MU... Congress is discussing on how we can coordinate contracts better. It's still in an early phase, but in name of all commanders, I welcome this with open hands!
Belgiums best week in combat
It must have been Belgium best week so far in terms of combat:
- We were second in weekly damages as a country!
- We are fourth in all-time damage!
- Our elite The Schtroumpfs MU was number one! in weekly damages!
- Belgian Black Devils ranked 7th in weekly damages!
- On May 26, Belgium did 130.02M damage in a day, only 4 countries did better!
- I'm probably overseeing a lot of other achievements this week, but overall, Belgium had it's strongest week so far!
Next week is election week, who will rule over our country, who will lose his seat and who will get the chance to prove his/her best in congress?

Denmark finally free?
The Danish were done with eating bratwurst, a successful revolt supported by our Belgian troops liberated Jutland.
Tuesday:
French capital under attack!
German troops taking over Eastern France on Monday (lucky for us they didn't pass through Belgium this time). Tuesday they continued marching right into the French capital, allied forces including Belgian troops rushed their way to the land of baguettes and wine and secured yet another victory against the Germans, when will they learn! The French however managed to stand strong against the huge amount of Germans, and secured their capital!
Luxembourg is liberated!
Luxembourg used the opportunity of German troops in Paris to revolt, successfully! Luxembourg is a free state once again!

From Big Ben to Blocked: Norway and Suriname Ruin Our UK Party!
After winning Southeastern England, you would expect our troops to continue claiming the rest of the UK, not! Norway bought Scotland, and immediately started a war with the UK. This is possible, even with the new rules, because they weren't allied before, so the cooldown didn't apply. So right when the Belgian troops were raising our tricolore on top of the Big Ben, Norway cut us off by attacking Central England. At the same time, Suriname, having control of Brittany in France, attacked Southwestern England. Belgium is now completely blocked from attacking any other regions.
Ireland tried the same dirty trick, but they should have first read the release notes of the last update!
Donation contest in Belgium!
What a sneaky way to pull of more taxes, our real government must be so jealous of this idea! The Department of Economy launched a donation contest to get more money into the Belgian account. Citizens are divided in level brackets and the top donators will get eternal fame in form of an article! So grab those wallets and get donating! (Check Discord for more info)
Thursday:
Another anticlimax in the United Kingdom
Our troops were partying in London together with the Arsenal fans who just won the title. They conquered London and were blocked from attacking any further, what should they do right? On Thursday, everyone was ready to move deeper into England. In the distance they hear Germans, dressed as Norwegians. Another attempt to block our expansion! The smurf army did not back down and went straight to defending their newly claimed piece of land.

Norther France in Belgian hands!
After Suriname taking over parts of France, the Belgian troops did not hesitate and crossed the border in West-Flanders to push the invader back. As a result, Northern France is now under Belgian leadership, until we are at liberty to return the region back to our allies south of the border.

The return of Toryl!
Former president of Belgium Toryl, also known as JCVD is a Belgian citizen again, after his presidency, he moved to Sao Tome & Principe to become a mercenary, with a short break in France he now returns home to the forests of the Ardennes. We also welcome ADrift, who has been a friend of the Belgians for a long time!
The MU tournament comes to an end for the Belgian teams, the last three MUs have been eliminated in round 5:

The fighting continues!
While the government is discussing tactics, the bullets fly over in Central England en Southeastern England. Our Belgian troops are showing their best sides, at the time of writing, Belgium ranked second in weekly damages!

The Belgians did not disappoint, after the donation competition announcement from the Department of Economy, 17.810,86 BTC was raised after a single day!

Discord rework chaos
The promised rework of the BE Discord was implemented by the Department of Domestic Affairs. A lot of channels are renamed, others have been removed, new ones have been added. The goal? Better overview of important messages.
Boule in Berlin, tompouce in Oslo
German capital was attacked today by allied forces lead by Denmark. The attempt to stop the German invasion in France. It was a hard battle, our forces made it as far as Brandenburg Tor, but were met by heavy German resistance and had to turn back.
While in the area our troops helped the Netherlands take over Oslo. A successfull invasion this time, Ostlanded is orange again!
UK losing more terrain
The masters of delaying are slowly but surely losing more terrain to Belgium. Central England is claimed, and Wales will soon also be under control of Belgian troops.
State account draining?
A lot of concerns were raised about Belgium sending a lot of money everywhere. The government responds saying that we are the victim of our own success, our congress are such fast voters that our alliance uses that to it's full extent. Since Belgium is mostly focussed on dealing damage now, the government asks not to worry as the money will be repayed.

The last piece of the Great Britain puzzle?
After days of hard fighting and being delayed, Belgium attacks Scotland, under Irish control. Scotland is the last region of Great Brittain not yet under Belgian control. We end the week with Great Brittain turning blue!

State Gazette: A Week in War Era Belgium #3

Monday:
Where is Eco Era? Our president promised us a quiet month of eco in his campaign. But let's be serious, the game is called War Era, our allies were yapping:

So we locked up our factories, swapped our farming clothes for tactical gear, and starting blasting at the Portuguese soldiers that were lost in Northern Africa.
It didn't take long for our great country to join the top 10 of weekly damages yet again, great job troops!
All Belgian passports revoked! Imagine coming home from a long day of work, opening your phone to play some War Era, and finding out that you're no longer Belgian on the Discord. Well it happened to every single Belgian on Monday night. The government installed a cutting-edge, impenetrable new border control! Every single Belgian had to prove their nationality in order to regain access, typical Belgian bureaucracy!
Tuesday:
Two new Belgian mods! Vatou recognizes that Belgians simply are the best in everything. Today, new moderators for the game were chosen, among which, two Belgians! Congrats to Belgmender and JacqueDeBalsac!
We pushed Portugal all the way back to the Iberian peninsula today, great efforts were made by allied forces including Belgium. Winning this war means that we secured our Iron bonus in Egypt! At least for now.
Wednesday:
The Department of Domestic affairs is reporting the new Discord structure is in a testing phase.
Today we fought with Panama against the Venezuelans, 54 million+ damage was done across the battle by Belgium, and victory secured!
Thursday:
Today is Ascension. For a lot of Belgians, the start of an extended weekend. Not for me though, but that's not really relevant.
A guide for new players. The department of education will publish a guide for new players this weekend. With the game getting more complicated each update, this will definitely come in handy for our new recruits!
Our Dutch friends invited us to play 'weerwolven van Wakkerdam' with them. I hope they will keep the howling at night to a minimum.

State Gazette: A Week in War Era Belgium #2
Welcome to another edition of the Belgian State Gazette, your weekly recap of the chaos, success, and questionable decisions that make our country the most entertaining place in War Era!
Monday:
Vatou made Louis Georges Boulanger president again! What a chaos last week, Belgium without a president! Our good friend Vatou made sure we didn't have to go through the hassle of going to the voting booth again and appointed the winner of the elections back in his role of president.
Our new president got straight to work. Not only did he install a new government, the ministers now get help from very capable slaves cabinet employees! Is this going to improve our government, or is it just a way for our president lay back in his chair and delegate all the work? Time will tell!

Tuesday:
Another week of alliances snapping? No worries, irrelevant alliances are removed as they cost our country a lot of money. We remain friends with our allies, even if this is not always visible in-game!
The newly installed departments from the government have immediately started to do their work, a quick overview:
- Advice on stocking up gear & sustainable war builds
- Reorganizing Discord
- New recruitment campaigns
- Flipping the market
After the presidential campaign follows the congress elections, this day marked the start where candidates could register themself. Who will be voting our laws for the upcoming month? Who will be re-elected, will we have new congress members and who will lose his seat at the table? Stay tuned for the results!
Today we mark a new milestone for our country, an active population of 350 players!
Wednesday:
Wednesday started with the game being down, and that on congress election day! At last the voting booths opened, for the second time in two weeks, the Belgians queued patiently waiting at their local school, town hall or sports hall to vote. 38 candidates for 20 seats. Keep reading for the results! Of the 'old' congress, 6 members did not put themselves up for re-election, we thank them for their work of the last month!
In other news, our Dutch neighbors broke the alliance with our country. Just to save money off course, we know how they are.
Thursday:
It was early in the morning when the results came in, a new Belgian congress is elected! Congratulations and good luck to all 20 congress members. And to the citizens that missed their seat in congress, keep your head up, keep working hard, and try again next month! Some stats & facts:
- Babu has the most experience in congress, with 5 elections
- 8 members of the 'old' congress were re-elected
- Only one member of the previous congress did not get re-elected
- 12 members were not in the previous congress, for 10 of these, it's their very first time
- 176 citizens voted (Belgiums active population is around 350)
- MRW (the party of the president) is with 4 seats the largest represented party
- PISS and Tank Belang both have 1 seat and are therefor the smallest parties in congress
I was a bit shocked to see that the former president of Sweden made it into Belgian congress! I would have asked him for a reaction, but he seems to be muted for his behavior.
Also, if you are wondering how broke our country really is since our last war:
The Department of Education created a commander training, this will be available for members over level 15 that are part of the 14th Medical Battalion.
Friday:
The new congress is definitely keeping their promises, laws are being voted at the speed of light! Keep it up guys!
Meanwhile, the Department of Domestic Affairs is reporting that the entire Discord will be reworked. I sure hope we get some more channels!
For over two months, Belgium and The Netherlands had shared occupancy of the regions of the United Kingdom and Ireland. This day, with SE England being reclaimed by the UK, marks an end of that era. The citizens across the channel however remain deeply grateful for the gastronomy of the Low Countries. Until we meet again lads!
Saturday:
Saturday was a quiet day, were the Belgians hungover from Friday night? Who knows, but the government reports that the departments are working are very hard behind the scenes for their ministers.
Our Minister of Defense came with a nice plan for our MUs to have more consistent damage output, go check it out in Discord if you haven't yet!
Sunday:
Most of Belgium celebrates mothers day today, so most of the Belgians were stuck in line at the flower shop, or were spending time with their mothers.
Our president however is on vacation, so naturally without a leader our government is relaxing a bit. He did send us a postcard:

Monday:
Venezuela's capital under fire! Over 1 billion damages dealt in total, but unfortunately for us, they were able to defend their crucial piece of land.
Little sidenote, over 1 million damage was dealt per citizen the week before!
Another desperate call was made from our government to put your steel factories in Iraq, and not Venezuela, not only do you support our allies, but we have a tax deal making part of the taxes flow right back to Brussels!
A weird sight on Monday, our country was not blue anymore! No it was not the PISS alliance that finally managed to put their color on the map, it was orange! Our Dutch friends celebrated their kings birthday. And as the good allies that we are, we showed our support by coloring ourselves orange, not long after almost the whole world joined, the Belgians are real trendsetters! Tuesday:
Lots of Belgians were drained from the great war efforts and went back to their farms and factories in eco. Meanwhile, our Dutch and French friends were dealing with heavy resistance, while our war efforts end, others are just getting started!
In other news, a lot of allies were removed to reduce the costs, that doesn't mean they are no longer our friends! You can always find an up-to-date version of our allies in Discord!
Wednesday:
Country tournament time! With a lot of Belgians in eco, and the fact that our draw was not very favorable, it was decided to not put our efforts here, we were eliminated first round, so no elite chests to gamble with unfortunately, better luck next time!
The Netherlands were dealing with heavy revolts from Norway, we helped where we could, but could not avoid a loss of terrain.
We saw from our lookout posts in the East Cantons that a lot of troops with an upside down Belgian flag were marching in Germany, I hope they steer clear of our beautiful country!
Thursday:
The Dutchies faced big revolts again, but they managed to stand their ground, good job neighbors!
To avoid Venezuela becoming market leader in steel, our allies Iraq and South-Africa swapped their specialization. If this is all too complicated for you, let me make it simple: move your steel companies to South-Africa and move your limestone mines to Iraq.
Friday:
Labor day today, and the start of a sunny 'verlengd weekend'! Looks like our government decided to actually go outside for once instead of playing War Era, as the government chat was nearly dead, or so I was told.
This day also marked the start of the presidential campaign, which traditionally starts with the opportunity to register yourself to the ballot, we had 6 citizens who thought they could handle running this country, keep reading to see who wins!
Saturday:
Voting day! Our president Nicol did not wish to continue to rule this chaotic country, we want to thank her for her efforts! But today is all about finding a replacement for the coming month. I hope you all voted for 'de goei'!
As the tradition goes, a bit of trolling by the president to go out with a bang, a law was proposed to color the country yellow! I was however quickly awakened from my dream to see a yellow Belgium as the vote was rejected. Even worse, a new vote was started by the congress to impeach Nicol as president, how will this end!
Sunday:
It was very early in the morning when the voting ended and all ballots were counted and recounted, a new president was chosen! A big congrats to Louis Georges Boulanger of the MRW party!
But what happened after shocked the world! 2 minutes after our new president was given his mandate. The vote to impeach the president, that was created as a joke the day before to kick out former president Nicol, went into action. What a scene, Belgium woke up, not with a new president, but without one! Belgium without a government, this game is getting too realistic!
