I have been having so much fun with Whering and I’ve found quite a few people already through this subreddit.
I’ve got a lot of my wardrobe uploaded now so also looking for people to style me. (I style back!) If you do make an outfit for me feel free to make an outfit you would wear yourself, I love trying out other styles!
I sewed this for a ball this weekend! I decided to do a menswear inspired ensemble instead of wearing a dress. I also learned a new skill, the buttonholes are hand sewn. They aren’t perfect but they work as intended!
Waistcoat is Laughing Moon 125. I omitted the high collar because I’m more likely to rewear it in a modern setting without that. Since I am a woman on the shorter side and this is a men’s pattern, I made a lot of fit adjustments. I added darts to the front and back and shortened it considerably. I also made an adjustment to the side seams for better fit. Fabric is silk taffeta and lined with linen.
Jacket is Laughing Moon 124. I shortened and tailored the sleeves. I also slightly shortened the cuffs because they looked comically large on my proportions. I used a silk wool and lined in the same taffeta as the waistcoat.
The cravat is just a long rectangle sewn out of linen. I can provide exact measurements for anyone interested.
I am not the same exact size and proportion as my dress form, they fit me better than her.
