NHRA Today’s report on King Racing’s 1993 Indianapolis 500

For the 1993 Indianapolis 500 Kenny Bernstein’s Budweiser King Indy Car team expanded to 3 cars as 4 time winner Al Unser joined Roberto Guerrero and Jim Crawford in a trio of Lola-Chevrolets. The Month of May proved to be an up and down affair for the Bernstein squad as it struggled with set ups all month but still managed to qualify all three drivers. In the race Al Unser had the best showing, leading briefly before dropping back and finishing 12th a lap down. Crawford had an early spin and finished several laps down while Roberto Guerrero clashed with Jeff Andretti and ended up in the wall. The month of May wasn’t all the bad for Bernstein though, as he pulled off a win at the NHRA stop in Englishtown, NJ. Defeating Rance McDaniel in the finals, his only win of the 93 season.
