I was wrong - DC race

I kept saying it's impossible for this DC track to be built in time given the timeline but boy was I wrong. Walked track today and it looks amazing and they have done a fantastic job with setup. I was telling everyone I know it won't happen but I need to own up and give credit when it due even if I don't want to

2007-2009 "Team Penske"

So we know that Marlboro dropped their name from Marlboro Team Penske " after 2006. But kept the colors till the end of 2009.

My question is did Marlboro still do any activation at the racetrack?

Or was this a shadow sponsorship.

Foster's Livery for the DC Race

Final special livery for the season I got to design for Louis.

Having lived in DC for a big chunk of my life, I wanted to design something that represented the city, it's monuments, museum, and architecture. I also didn't want to do the same red white and blue stuff everyone else seems to do. I feel sorry for the spotters this weekend.

Jeroen Demmendaal As compensation, you’re getting a different piece of silly season news from me: Indy NXT driver Josh Pierson is 99% certain to be on the #INDYCAR grid in 2027. Yay!

IndyCar Updates | August 18 2026

Christian Lundgaard is the "worst kept secret in the paddock" for Chip Ganassi's #9 car, replacing Scott Dixon.

✍️ Rinus VeeKay signed a multi-year contract with Juncos Hollinger Racing and is now off the market.

🔄 At Meyer Shank Racing, following Felix Rosenqvist's departure, the second seat is leaning towards a talented driver with a budget.

Mick Schumacher appears as a solid option for 2027, while Yuki Tsunoda is mentioned more for 2028.

🤝 Brad Hollinger is also expected to take full control of Juncos Hollinger and a technical alliance with Arrow McLaren is expected to be formalized.

🇧🇷 In that scenario, Caio Collet is one of the most highly rated names for JHR's second seat, McLaren could keep an eye on Collet and Veekay for when Dixon retires.

Simulated IR-28 vs IR-18 at Road America

Always need to take simulations with several grains of salt, but I thought this was interesting.

Nascar is at Kansas May 8th-9th in 2027

Per Bob Pockrass (https://x.com/bobpockrass/status/2090096347680575922)

NASCAR will be at Kansas next spring on the weekend of May 8th-9th

That just happens to be an open weekend for Indycar

Perhaps it's too late and/or already been discussed but if I was Indycar/Fox I would have really been trying to get in on that as a double-header if I could. The weekend is open for Indycar and it would help plug part of that big gap after Long Beach.

Of course it would require cooperation on the part of Nascar but I'm guessing the weekend would be absolutely packed (in the stands) if they could pull off a double there.

What happened with OSQ Fast 6 in Markham? And will it be back this weekend?

It was announced earlier this year that all street tracks starting Arlington would have a One Shot Qualifying in the Fast 6, and it seemed to work well in all three events where it happened, so why didn’t it return last week? And is there any hope of it coming back this week/next season?

Random Fact About the DC Layout

Okay so, not to dox myself, but I have a masters degree in American military history. And my subject area was sex work in DC during the American Civil War. The track map of the Freedom 250 is almost a perfect outline of the old red light district. Like it is the exact area that I studied. I will include the photo I have of the list of bawdy house addresses in the area to this post. But I can’t help but giggle a bit because yeah. This is the red light 250 to me.

Edit to add: I included a photo of one of the maps I used but it’s in a hidden comment for those interested

Timelapse preview of Freedom 250 Grand Prix track

The often-congested streets around the National Mall will transform in less than a week into a speedy racetrack.

The Freedom 250 Grand Prix, scheduled for Aug. 23, will be the first-ever IndyCar street race in Washington, D.C. The 1.66-mile circuit takes race cars past the U.S. Capitol, the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, and crosses the National Mall twice.

The race is part of a series of events hosted by President Donald Trump this year for America’s 250th birthday. In June, he hosted a UFC fight on the South Lawn of the White House.

In an interview with the AP, the Penske Corporation, which owns IndyCar, said it is paying for the “vast majority” of the event.

Free general admission tickets were issued in June, while premium “Champion’s Club” tickets were sold for $5,000 per person for the two-day event.

Rick Hendrick said he is done doing any partnerships to do the Indianapolis 500. Connor Zilisch left the door open for it sometime down the road, but obviously it sounds like it wouldn't be a coordinated effort with HMS like Larson had. (Bob Pockrass)
