Several firsts in episode three

First handshake this season! It's about time.

The real first though, is the Audience Choice to bring family members in to bake the signature! That was interesting.

I was delighted to see Paul give the family member a handshake as well. First time a non-contestant received a Hollywood Handshake. You know they'll remember that, forever. Nice one, Paul.

First time the Technical was "You choose your bake", with varying degrees of success. Again, due to AC (Audience Choice).

First time the Showstopper was a wearable bake. Numerous interpretations of this, from cake to biscuit. AC to be wearable.

First time one of the Hosts (Alison), asked for (and got) a Hollywood Handshake, in a very humorous manner.

Person eliminated ask for, and got, a handshake goodbye from Paul. Another first.

Person who won Star Baker called home to tell, and family member cussed, multiple times (all bleeped out). Having seen every season, can confirm this was a first!

This was a truly enjoyable episode, with loads of "firsts" to make it memorable.

Watch first 7 seasons free in the US

Did you know that you can watch the Original first seven seasons in the US?

It's on the ROKU channel for free! Bonus- you don't even have to have a Roku to watch it, go to their website and watch it there. Ad-free as well.

Downside- the captions are AI generated and suck (mentions flowers a lot, lol). Upside- if you're really into baking, there's extra episodes after that discuss the bakes, what went wrong, and how to bake it right.

Episode One

I was SO EXCITED to see the first episode!

I have comments about some things (not the bakes) that I've hidden so as not to ruin things for anyone.

  1. Judges
    >!Prue was in the opening, to say a proper goodbye. I was so touched!!<

  2. Opening
    >!They redid the opening, with a different baker, different child, and they remade the cake! Still missing a raspberry- but in a different spot.!<

  3. Equipment
    >!New fridges!<

  4. Tasting
    >!They're using spoons now to taste the bakes! (previously used forks)!<

  5. Representation
    >!Molly, who is a wheelchair user. Gabe, who is poly.!<

I'm super happy about these changes, and look forward to this season!

What genre of lawyer?

Not looking for legal advice, looking for advice to find a lawyer.

Missing persons case, need to prove identity and claim inheritance- what type of lawyer is that, and how to find them?

Also- should seek lawyer in a) state living in currently, b) state missing occurred in, or c) state inheritance is based in?

This isn't something I can flip through 'attorneys' in the phone book and find the right category- and the category, knowing the Name Type, is what is needed here. Thanks.

Student Loans, Meds, Cell Phones

US federal student loans can go on the Income Based Repayment Plan. This puts your loan payment on a Sliding Scaled, based on your last year's tax return. The bill can slide down to ZERO. Contact your loan lender. Good for one year, then reapply; mark your calendar, they will not remind you.

US medications (and equipment) not covered by insurance can be covered by the Patient Assistance program. This program is offered (mandated) by EVERY pharm manufacturer. Contact the manufacturer of each med to apply- one application per *manufacturer*. Covers meds and supplies- supplies like catheters, syringes, testing strips, etc. Approved, the med(s)/supplies are FREE, sent to pharmacy. Good for one year, then reapply; mark your calendar, they will not remind you.

US, cell phones from the Lifeline program are FREE. This includes free unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, and unlimited data to go online. Name of provider varies by location; Google "lifeline zipcode" to find yours (replacing zipcode with your actual zip number). Oddly, the websites for these carries look kinda sketch, and the customer service is Lousy- but they're legit. Apply, hear *nothing* back, then suddenly about 3 weeks later, phone in the mail.

Vintage skates questions

Spotted some vintage skates at a yard sale recently, got them cheap.

By 'vintage' I mean wooden wheels.

Now I'm wondering- are these safe to skate? I'm disabled and haven't tried them yet for this reason- don't want to find out the hard way! I didn't think to ask in advance, because, yard sale, kinda instant.

Part of me is also considering just selling them online- is there any interest in skates from like the 1960's? (guessing date)
