Gibson Traffic

Gibson Traffic

The traffic on Gibson gets progressively worse each year. It used to be unimaginable to see this many cars backed up at a light in Woodland, especially this area’s exit from the highway. With the mind numbing slow traffic between Davis & Woodland on Road 102, the consistent traffic on Gibson during near peak and peak hours, and the excessive people lining up to I-5, the driving experience has just gotten so much worse over the years.

Surely something can be done to prevent the issue prior to thousands more people move here with all of the already speedbuilt mass produced housing communities.

Graffiti Vandalism Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve

(I know this is r/Irvine but the kid road in on his electric bike from Irvine and left towards Newport Beach)

Yesterday (~7 pm), while walking at the nature preserve on the trails and admiring the wildlife, I spotted a kid, blonde hair (maybe 14/15 y/o) behind me consistently stopping and getting off his e-bike at the signs that explain interesting facts about the animals present. I assumed he was strolling alone to get fresh air and enjoy the nature. After turning around and walking back through the way I came, I noticed all of the signs I was at a couple of minutes prior had been graffiti’d with similar markings, potentially representing a gang or affiliated group. This is beyond disgusting to do to such a beneficial & serene place and speaks to the lack of awareness the parents in Irvine and Newport Beach have relative to their kids. The e-bikes allow them to go wherever they want unsupervised, in addition to being dangerous as well.

Crimes like these should never happen in such a nice area with so many resources and great communities. Teenagers fully left to their own devices on these bikes have been a non-stop bother for many cities and it’s even happening here too. It is even more potentially worrying that this may have been done as an initiation requirement for a gang or nefarious group.

I’m solely posting to spread awareness and give context to anyone who has seen this graffiti recently.
