Distortion pedal

I finished my first pedal, it's a distortion and is really loud. I found a circuit online, and was only planning on messing around on a breadboard. It was so much fun that I ended up buying some soldering supplies to make a 'real' pedal out of it. Printed the housing for it, and it's a bit large.

I swapped the barrel connector for a battery plug. I couldn't filter out the whistling from my wall wart power adapter. I tried adding some rc filters, but it made no difference so I gave up and settled for the battery.

I want to try to make a noise gate next, so any tips are welcome!

First pedal tips

I managed to get my first pedal working, and it sounds very good! It should be a distortion pedal, i followed the schematics from this online guide.

Needed a couple iterations and some debugging, but managed to get everything working and soldered on a pcb board, and im currently printing a housing for it. Before i put it all in place I want to try to reduce the hum on it.

I do get quite a bit of hum and whistle when i turn the volume on it up, en when i touch the blue input wire going from the pot to the board it gets worse. I read that i should use shielded wires instead. So i need to get some a resolder it.

Do you guys have any other tips on how to reduce the hum and whistle?

Any other feedback is very welcome as well!
