There are exactly 0 cashiers working at the Walmart on 17

I just finished up my Sunday grocery shopping and had to check everything out on a self-checkout express lane.

That's about as fun as it sounds. When I asked the lady manning the self to check out area, she said that everyone was off.

I should say I asked one of the 3 ladies managing the self-checkout area. Apparently, they couldn't spare one person to open up a single lane.

This isn't any of their fault and I don't blame them. I certainly blame management and the fucked up corporate culture that thinks they should be able to get away with it.

Edit:

For clarification, this is Walmart #632 at 1481 N Highway 17 in Mount Pleasant.

Our neighbors "invited" usover for dinner...

We recently moved into a nice newer neighborhood, and have been very happy with it. The house is nice, the neighborhood is nice, and it seems like people know each other a bit. It's peaceful and safe.

One of our neighbor's kids walked up to me a while back and wanted to sell me a bag of popcorn. I figured it was some sort of fund raiser, and she was adorable, so I bit on the $5 popcorn. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a cute kid trying to make some walking around money.

Then we got a knock on our door a few evenings later, and several of them were there to greet me. Apparently, they seem to be running an unlicensed "restaurant" out of their vinyl village home.

They otherwise seem nice enough, and they're quiet. Ultimately it doesn't really impact me, but damn.
