New Classic PvP Server launches tomorrow, July 3

Hi there.

Its me, Spacemonkey. Some of you may know me from creating and/or running servers like Doctide, Podtide, the first Dekarutide, the first ACE Classic servers, etc.

We're launching a new server tomorrow, Classic PvP. As usual for me, it is PK focused.

This is a Classic server set in the era of the February 2005 Infiltration patch, which was the last patch before Throne of Destiny. This means old school skills like Sword, Unarmed Combat, Crossbow, Axe, etc. You won't find any Void Magic, Dual Wield, Summoning, Sneak Attack, etc. and the gear is much simpler with Major cantrips, no Luminance, Ratings, Enlightenment, Equipment Sets, Aetheria, etc. Its a blast from the past, back to the nostalgia of a simpler time, in what many would consider to be the golden age of the game.

This is a seasonal server. What's that mean? It means in this case that we will run Season 1 for 120 days starting tomorrow, July 3. It will have a rolling level cap, starting at level 15 and increasing by several levels each day. This keeps us all mostly on the same playing field as we PK our way through early, mid and late game. So many servers are a race to end game, and its easy to miss all the fun of early and mid game. That won't be the case here! There is also a global XP modifier that scales over time - it starts at 0.25x XP and ramps up day by day to be 1.5x XP at mid game around lvl 126, then 3x at the end when everyone just wants to max skills.

There's a ton of fun PK focused features, like the arenas that I first created for Doctide (and you may have since seen borrowed on other servers like Unfamiliar Shores or Conquest), or the Bounty Hunter feature our good friend Vodka created, and a new Hometown Control feature where your allegiance can battle for control of Bindstones and win access to multiple allegiance hometowns while depriving your enemies of access.

There's also a very robust anti-cheating implementation. It catches and denies movement cheats like using cheat engine to change your location client side and teleport around, or change your strength client side so you can magically jump over mountains, or delete monsters client side so you can walk through them. All of that and much more is 100% prevented, while doing my best to avoid side effects and false positives. The nature of this game does mean there will be some false positives, but that's better than playing with cheaters.

There's so many more details to share, and you can read all about it in our very lengthy release notes. I wont post links at first to avoid the post getting auto modded. Link to discord and release notes will be in comments.

AC mod gods pls let this post stand. I know server adverts belong on Fridays, but this will be my one and only advert here, and the server launches tomorrow so I wanted to give an early heads up.

UPDATE: We had an amazing opening day. 111 accounts created, and every one enforced as a unique IP, so those are all distinct people. Over 1200 PK Kills! Over 100 arena events! The population was between 45-57 all day, which doesnt sound like a lot, but it felt very alive as we all got our noob fighting fun in. Come join us!
