A few months after I bought my car I realized it has a starlight headliner installed, but I didn't know how to use it. A friend recommended using an app that automatically scans wireless RGB controllers but nothing popped up, so over the long weekend I took it apart a bit and found that someone who owned the car previously just cut the strands at the projector, is there a way to fix this or would it require replacing all of it?

It does nothing but rattle against my exhaust now so I took it off, but what is it originally there for?

It's a 2017 brz if that matters
