Finished these 6 books 📚 what stash should I order next?

Finally finished these six books and now I’m at that dangerous stage where I want to order a completely new stack before I even decide what to read next 😭I have been getting more serious about reading especially books related to cinema filmmaking storytelling psychology and understanding how artists think and work I’m trying to build a proper personal library rather than just randomly buying books that look interesting

But I don’t just want cinema or filmmaking books I want books that genuinely help me understand the things a filmmaker needs beyond technical knowledge which is human nature, psychology, emotions, relationships, conflict, morality, philosophy, culture, society, human behavior, and the way people see and experience the world I feel like filmmaking books can teach you a lot about the technical side of filmmaking but you also need to understand people and life if you want to create meaningful characters and stories

I’m also very interested in fiction because I feel like reading stories from different perspectives can teach you things about character human behavior emotions and storytelling that a purely technical filmmaking book cannot so I’m looking for your opinions and recommendations for my next stash if you had to pick a batch of around 5 to 10 books for me to order next what would you recommend?

They don’t all have to be about filmmaking either I’m open to fiction, philosophy, psychology, cinema, biographies, criticism, and many more genre basically anything you think is genuinely worth reading

What should I order next?👀📚

Bro what are guys doing these days 😭 I’m literally a guy

So I randomly got this DM today and I genuinely don’t know how to react😭

This guy introduces himself with his name, age, city, height, weight, job, physique, personality, preferred roleplay style, communication style, language, approach, and even his commitment level

Then he basically gives me an entire psychological character description about being a calm, dominant, possessive, psychologically intense roleplay partner😭and the funniest part? bro I’m a guy😭he saw my profile that I’m a guy but still sent men his dm I’m straight bro like how did we even get here??

I was not expecting to open reddit and receive someone entire roleplay CV character profile job application about how intimidating they are in roleplay in my DMs💀 what is happening with our country men🥲
What do you think guys?

I Think We Should Stop Watching Directors Filmographies Chronological I have made the Optimal Watching Orders For 8 directors

In this post I have only included directors whose entire filmography I have watched I haven’t mentioned the ones whose filmography I have only partially seen or have yet to watch

I have been going through a lot of director filmographies lately and started thinking that chronological order is not always the best way to experience a filmmaker work so I made my own viewing orders for several directors based on things like how their style develops what films work well as introductions and how certain movies build on ideas from earlier ones obviously this is subjective

I’m curious what you guys think and would you change any of these orders and what director filmography should I do next?

Jaime Lannister Vs Daemon targeryen who wins?

A friend asked me who would win in a fight between Jaime Lannister and daemon targeryen if they were both given all their usual equipment but no dragon

Who are you betting on and why?

Just saw Kill Bill Vol. 1 and I enjoyed this so much more than Pulp Fiction

just saw kill bill vol 1 and I enjoyed this so much more than pulp fiction kill bill vol 1 hooked me almost immediately and for me it’s tarantino at his most visually exciting

the whole o-ren Ishii sequence is probably my favourite part of the film the animation, her backstory, the yakuza council meeting and then the way she is presented as this almost untouchable and intimidating figure it genuinely felt like I was watching a character being turned into a legend before she even properly enters the story I have never seen storytelling and animation blend together like that and I loved it

uma thurman is also so good as The bride she makes the revenge feel personal without needing to constantly explain what she’s feeling and I completely bought into wanting to see her get to Bill

and then there is house of blue leaves fight the first half where she takes on o-ren entire army is incredible the choreography, editing, sound, cinematography and music all come together and it’s probably the most purely badass part of the film

I do think the fight loses me a little in the second half though after the film builds o-ren up for so long I expected their final confrontation to hit harder the snowfall looks beautiful but the actual fight felt too short and not quite as special as I wanted it to be

I also wasn’t a fan of the sudden switch to black and white during the first part of the fight I get the stylistic choice but I preferred the colour and atmosphere of everything around it

I love how confidently tarantino treats the movie like a piece of cinema rather than just a story the animation and the editing and the colours, the music, the sound and the action all feel like they are constantly playing with the possibilities of filmmaking

Even when the film is being completely ridiculous it is never boring it’s stylish, violent, funny in places, incredibly entertaining and surprisingly emotional whenever the film gives us glimpses of the bride and o-ren past

also that final moment “tell bill I want him to know it was me” is such a simple line but it tells us exactly where the bride stands

so not entirely perfect and I definitely wanted more from the final o-ren fight but this is the first tarantino film where I really felt what everyone was talking about and I’m exited to see volume 2
