Sunset on Scarif

Probably my cleanest back ever. Worked on some new start and finish techniques that I'm in love with now. Loop and pin starts are great! I'm very pleased with how this turned out!

Pattern is 'Space robot, CS370' by awesomepatternstudio, stitched 2 over 1 on 18ct. I've been calling it Sunset on Scarif.

[FO] Sunset on Scarif

This was a fun one. It started as a much needed break from my massive confetti filled project. Only 10 colors in big blocks on a lower count fabric healed my soul and made me excited to stitch again. It also was a chance to practice different start and finish techniques. Pin and loop starts are the best, and this is the cleanest back I've ever had. Still need to work on making my single confetti stitches look neater, but over all I'm very happy with it.

[WIP] A very satisfying game of thread chicken.

I'm working on this as a break from my main confetti project. Much lower count fabric and only 10 colors. My soul heals while just whipping through color blocks without having to tripe check the placement. Right up until the dreaded moment when the thread starts to run out. I was sure I didn't have enough of the blue. 2 strands on 18ct eats up much more thread than 1 on 32ct. I thought I had overstocked thread while kitting up, only to run out of the first color after 2 skeins. The 2 skeins of blue were just shy of what was needed for the stitch count by my new calculations.

Happily, I was wrong. 4,865 stitches with about 8 inches of thread to spare! Woo!

[WIP] Considering starting over

I'm on the 7th page of this 80 page project and considering starting over. It's many many hours of work, but I'm not completely happy with how it looks. It's 1 over 1 on 32 ct fabric. It's the first time I've stitched on 32, but I've done 28 before. I wanted a denser coverage for the dark areas so the fabric didn't show through. Problem is, it's maybe gone a bit in the other direction. To me the stitches look messy in parts with confetti. Which is nearly the entire 500 by 500 piece. Like they are too bunched up or sloppy despite being really careful. Plus it's tough to work through on the back near the end of each page.

I can't tell if I'm just being picky because my nose is right near the stitches or not. I'm considering starting over on 25 ct. It would be easier on my eyes and should still have good coverage. It's hard to abandon so many hours of work on the first one though. I'd welcome any thoughts anyone would like to share.
