Quick discussion
So, I know Courtney A. Kemp has a thing with writing characters we aren't supposed to like but they are just too damn intriguing not too. First Ghost and now Coltrane. But the inverse is also true. She always writes good guys we just can't honestly root for.
I'm sorry but Isaiah is straight trash. Not the actor playing him. He actually does a great job (M. Law). Isaiah honestly is the most competent and just hate face punchable smugness looking sob on the show. The amount of Deus Ex that occurred to get him off the hook is legitimately insane.
What exactly was Coltrane's plan with the heavy shootout in the middle of a city block? It just didn't logically make sense. You don't have tinted windows on the Sprinter? Plus think about all the additional time between when they left the penthouse to the Sprinter/Central City Shootout. You had no time to stash your gear&the money and just split up and then have a second team collect all the things. Harper could have easily picked up the money and gear from a drop off point. I get they wanted to do a homage to Heat but they should have just done it with any other crew. It didn't fit Coltrane's style of operation & planning.
But the biggest Deus Ex is Amos and Stiles. At any point, couldn't Coltrane just say that the reason he's been able to avoid the cops is because Isaiah is essentially helping him. Obfuscation and all that stuff. "You caught a small guppy because the big fish is right there, your honor!" Nino Brown Style.
"I was just a businessman and a reformed criminal until a hardened criminal and his son, an LAPD officer, brought me back into the line of crime. They fed me Intel at work. Response times. Police routes. Everything I needed to evade capture..He threatened my wife and family if we didn't do the jobs for him. He set up my friend Deon to be murdered..."
