With the announcement of the Odds and Ends sale Nicks is currently running I feel an obligation to remind everybody to check out Color 8 Cypess.

At the time I purchased these, beloved Color 8 CXL had just ceased to be an offering but once Shuyler and Rebecca showed off the venerable Color 8 Cypress I knew it would fill my burgundy slot.

Cypress to this day is my all time favorite tannage I've tried this far. Retaining all of the pro's from dublin and building upon them in the process.

Very much aniline, the waxy surface polishes nicely over time revealing endless depth in both color and character.

The stretch factor infamously known in the Dublin tannage is almost nonexistent. The combination chrome tannage keeps things nice and tight.

Color 8 is one of the most famous leathers coming out of Horween's but sadly it is overlooked more than one thinks.

I look forward to seeing the final Color 8 Cypress builds. These have been such a pleasure to experience life with. 🫡✨️🥾

Pacific Waxed Flesh, The Dark Version...

I am quickly closing in on a year of straight wear on the Pacific Waxed Flesh, LTT's and the continue to morph in ways I did not believe possible at the start.

Breaking in the lace to toe pattern put up on hell of a fight initially. Rubbing the tops of my big toes raw due to my commitment to wear them throughout the course of the Open Patina Thunderdome.

As the months went by the realization that not only the pain was gone but the level of adjustment on these became pleasantly apparent. The LTT pattern allows the user to tight up around the ball of the foot a bit more. A welcome feature to experience after wearing the tankers the summer prior.

Multiple walks in inclement weather mixed with a heavy does of everyday life transformed the once almost glossy black waxed finish into a deep sea blue in a jungle of nappy fibers. The uppers maintaining alot of the original color while the lowers lightening in high friction spots.

Going from everyday home life, to life on the line set the evolution process ablaze. The Thunderdome is only but the beginning. It's ts the life there after that really tells the tales.

Spec's: MTO, LTT Robert - Horween, Pacific Waxed Flesh - Thurman 55 Last - 8 Inch - Rolled Top - Pull Loop - Gunmetal Hooks and Eyes - Soft Toe - Classic Dogger Heel - Beeswax Edge - Vibram V700 VBar Outsole - Generation Laces, 72 Inch Night Blue Paracord Laces.

1925 DS Cobalt Mocs. 3 Months In.

Three months have absolutely flown by with these beauties! We are staring down the barrel at almost two months until the start of this years Patina Thunderdome and my fully devoted time in these is beginning to dwindle. The 1925 Moc's in DS Cobalt have continued to transform in ways that I have not experienced with my other pairs.

Heat and humidity combined with a healthy dose of horse hair brushings after each wear have deepened and enriched the blue colorway into an almost violet shade. Scuffs and scrapes unveil the lighter tones that reside beneath the super oily surface.

I have grown to really love the 1925 last. Its profile is sleet and elegant yet the build quality and construction lead me to believe it would perform well in any rugged conditions you might encounter.

I look forward to see the future evolution of my beloved blue mocs. 🫡✨️🟦🥾

Dome Boot Day. Predator Natural, Builder Pro HD.

Ever since the initial release of Predator Natural I was enamored by its almost ghost like appearance when new and the darker carmelization colors it shows with some wear.

As I continue to try to spread the love through various Horween tannages I am very excited to be given the opportunity to run this leather in the competition come October.

My theme for this year will be based off contrast and how well we can get lights and darks to pop through the canvas. Opting for all white stitching was a feature I hope will shine through the dark waxy burnishing that should build upon the Predator Natural's finish.

Speaking of stitching, the Builder Pro HD model coupled with a moc toe has some of the most clean sweeping stitch lines I have seen on a pair of boots to date. Curving and angling in all the right spots along the silhouette of this beautiful work horse.

A Vibram V100 White X Lug Outsole will hopefully provide some good comparison notes as I have run the Honey Lug Outsole for the last two Thunderdomes. I hope to see if grip and traction is better, worse, or about the same between the two.

Patience will continue to be the name of the game as we are looking at 83 more days until the start of the boot aging activities.

In the meantime I am curious to hear what y'all will be running in the competition this year. I love seeing everyones creative imaginations come to life when Nicks performs their boot making magic. The results are more often than not incredible.

Happy future doming my friends!!! 🫡✨️🥾

1925 Mocs Bringing The Blue For The Stars And Stripes.

The DS Cobalt 1925 Moc's are representing the blue for the stars and stripes today for America's big birthday!

Over the last month and a half they have begun to melt and mold with each wear in the warmer summer days. The Double Stuffed tannage is indeed one that benefits greatly from heat both radiating off the body and environmental.

Coming from the 55 and T55 lasts the 1925 was an adjustment, but perseverance has really allowed this last to grow on me and I look forward to seeing their progression continue to develop before the start of this years upcoming Thunderdome.

Happy Birthday America! Stay safe and hydrated out there y'all!!! 🫡✨️🇺🇲🥾

A Work Horse And A Half. AG Roughout Rangers.

Over the last almost 2.5 years these Rangers have been called upon to handle some of the toughest tasks in some quite treacherous conditions. Mud, rain, snow and sleet have baptized the nappy roughout exterior on several occasions. I have only brushed and rinsed them off as needed and applied a light layer of Smiths once over the course of that time.

They just keep asking for more abuse. Scoffing and shrugging it off, ready for whatever is thrown their direction. These Rangers have become my most comfortable pair to date. Besting the likes of my Natural Dublin, BP's and Color 8 Cypress Roberts by a slim margin. The comfort is a surreal thing to experience each time I wear them

I really cant wait to see what the next 2 plus years brings to this incredible pair of footwear!

Specs: Quickship Rangers - 1964 Ash Gray Roughout - 55 Last - 8 Inch - Standard Top - Pull Loop - Brass Hooks and Eyes - Soft Toe - Classic Logger Heel - Natural Edge - Vibram 430 Mini Lug Outsole.

Breathing New Life...

When I first discovered Nicks one of the key selling points one of the key selling points to me was the recraftable aspect about them.

Being able to wear a pair of boots for two years straight and then be able to send them in for a resole was a concept I had not thought of before. I was stuck in the cycle of wearing cheaper brands and then tossing them in a landfill once they were beyond repair. My body was not happy standing on synthetic materials that would disintegrate within the first few months of heavy wear.

This pair of 1964 Brown Builder Pro's has been worn by a buddy of mine for the better part of two years exclusively to work and the have hd up extremely well. Taking the abuse from building power lines will test any type of outsole.

No wonder the Vibram V100 Black Lug Outsole is the industry standard sole when it comes to heavy duty work. They have gone above and beyond the call of duty, and with this killer resole they are prepared for another two years to pass by.

I'll be watching with excitement to see where that time will take them. 🫡✨️🥾

Stoked To See More Chromepak In The Wild.

After watching the sample sale today there was no better choice but to wear my Sage Chromepak's today.

Having been wearing this pair since February of 24', they have been the heritage build role model for my collection. All of my other casual use only pairs have shared atleast one or more attributes from the bloodlines of this amazing build.

The Chromepak itself, being a full chrome tanned leather is resilient to most weather conditions, only faltering in the extreme heat. It's ever so waxy and has a one of a kind crayon like aroma that will fill a room, especially when new.

This tannage molds well to the foot and ankle in a relatively quick manner. Break in was almost non existent when compared directly to the Seidel tannages I had experienced before.

As for conditionings the heavy wax top layer has done a fantastic job filling in minor scuffs and scrapes with some regular after wear brushing. Sharper objects will cut quite deep though ive found, revealing the light blue chromium that resides within the cross section. I look forward to the continued aging journey that lies ahead.

All in all, this pair of Sage Chromepak will forever hold a special place on my boot rack. To all who scored some on this recent sale, outstanding choice. I cant wait to see what yall brewed up!

Shiny out. 🫡✨️🥾

The Last Belt You'll Ever Need.

Hello my fellow work wear enthusiasts!

My name is u/Shinyhntr91 I come bearing some exciting new products extending from r/NicksHandmadeBoots community.

A bit of background info about my Nicks boots journey; I am a third generation high voltage lineman out of southern New Jersey. A few years back I found myself at a crossroads with comfortable quality footwear the could not only perform well on the jobsite, but for every other faucet of my day to day life. After going through many different brands I landed firmly on a pair of Nicks Builder Pro's.

After two years of solid use I knew Nicks was the brand for me. Since then my collection has grown quite extensive as I hope to enjoy them for the remainder of my linework career and beyond.

Fast forward to present day, Nicks has decided to fire up a leather good site offering belts, bags, wallets and more hand crafted with the same quality leather and solid brass materials expected from the small and humble Spokane, Washington business.

I have here three belts to show you from left to right we have a 10 - 12 oz. thick Double Stuffed Natural, Wickett and Craig work belt, followed by dual heritage belts in Horween tanneries Predator Orange and Predator Natural. Both belts are two ply, 6 - 7 oz. thick.

Side by side to the DS Natural work belt overall thickness between the two belts is about equivalent to one another.

In the second photo I gave the belts a good fold to show the incredible pull up the leathers reveal. My favorite is the almost sunburst effect the DS Natural shows.

The width of the belts are 1.5 inches fitting well in a variety of pants and as for sizing they recommend which ever your pants size is to add 4 inches. Although there is a more definitive sizing guide on the website if you are unsure.

I do hope you to take a glance at both Nicks boots and now belts as they have changed my life for the better in more ways then one.

If you have any questions comments or concerns I would be more than happy to answer!

Shiny out!!! 🫡✨️

A Gift For My Son.

My oldest, my stepson Corey will be leaving for Florida at the end of this summer to work with his pops down in Florida as a mechanic. After placing in this years thunderdome I figured there was no better time to gift him his first pair of Nicks.

So we sat down and got him all sized up then began to scope out the RTS page for something that could prove to be useful on a mechanic shop floor. Immediately this pair of Gamebreakers in Spokane Brown jumped out at us.

Between the TNW, padded collar and Sierra outsole I think he made a great choice. I know they will serve him well as he takes his first steps into adulthood and I'll be looking forward to seeing their patina progression under that Floridian sunshine.

Love you bud.

I Did A Thing...🥾✨️👀 Grail Boot Incoming.

Ever since I began this journey I longed for the day to have a pair of Nicks built in the world renowned Horween Shell Cordovan. That day is finally becoming a reality. To say im excited is a complete and utter understatement.

Based off of one of my most comfortable builds the Ranger. I know the Black Marbled Shell will accentuate its sleek yet rugged design, still true to the core roots of Nicks.

A grail NBD is incoming and I cant contain the waiting for Christmas morning feeling!
