I built an App Intent for Dengii so Shortcuts can auto-log Apple Pay transactions - sharing the setup
This is kind of embarrassing to admit, but I build a budget app and I was still forgetting to log my own expenses.
I'd tap Apple Pay, put my phone in my pocket, and by the time I was outside the store I'd already moved on. The intention was there. The log was not.
I tried reminders. I tried widgets. Nothing really worked because the problem wasn't the app - it was that 30-second window where you're already mentally somewhere else.
What ended up working for me:
A Shortcuts automation that fires when a Wallet payment goes through. It passes the merchant name and amount into an App Intent in Dengii. You get a one-tap confirm screen. Takes maybe 5 seconds.
The other thing I added is a Back Tap shortcut - double tap the back of your phone and it opens straight to voice input in Dengii. You say "coffee 3.50" and it's logged. Good for cash or when you're splitting something.
Honestly the Back Tap one took me three attempts to get right. Voice timing, making sure it didn't fight with other gestures, keeping it short enough to be worth using. I expected the Apple Pay automation to be the useful one, but this is the thing I actually use every single day.
Shipped it in v1.2 of Dengii this week. App's free to try if anyone wants to poke at the App Intent. Happy to share the automation setup if it's useful - just drop a comment.
