Erfahrungen mit Wohnheim in Haugerglacisstraße vs. Studierendenwerk Würzburg?

Hallo zusammen,

A letter to some arrogant applicants

In conversations with some applicants, they mistakenly believe that a high GPA guarantees admission. This is a huge misconception. The official admission logic and rules are clearly stated: a good course matching is always paramount, although GPA is important, especially with increasing numbers of applicants. Related practical skills(not work exp) and other demonstrated abilities may be even more crucial.

Some applicants boast of GPAs of 1.8 or even 1.6 or 1.4, but they need to understand that their degree or university may not be sufficiently recognized. This is why institutions like APS, VPD, and Anabin exist. Consult and read the application materials before applying. For most applicants, admission is determined beforehand. Don't add unnecessary workload for the admissions office only to complain later about not being accepted.

University Hildesheim Data Analytic - Write down some cases to wake some people from their daydreams.

Because some people are still arguing, I'll write down specific examples to help our friends wake up to reality.

This is a rejection letter case from others. Please pay attention to the key points. “Applications have been accepted up to rank 170, your rank is 5718.“

5718 is not a known max number; the largest known number is over 6000.

If you are still prepared to argue...🫡

No news at all about HHU Düsseldorf University and Augsburg University

I applied for those two program ds and ai & ds. Of course, I'm no longer considering those two universities; I've already received offers from better ones. I just want to see what the result of this 30 euros will be.

My prediction:

  1. Augsburg ds will not accept me because the free application process led to too many applicants.
  2. Düsseldorf ai&ds will accept me.

Even today, some people still believe they can win.

For example, BTU, Passu, Kassel, Dresden CMS, Chemnitz Web, Hildesheim, and other Unis almost all received over a thousand applications. You can see almost 70%~80% posts here are asking about these program. Many people are still hoping they'll be accepted, or they believe they'll be admitted for non-NC reasons or because they have a so called "legal obligation" to admit students. Realistically, the number of applicants far exceeds the number of students they've admitted before. Don't expect them to accept the majority; that's impossible. Prepare alternative plans as soon as possible: stay home, choose other programs, or explore other regions.

worry about CS applications in Germany

My GPA is 2.1. I applied to the following universities: Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Machine Learning - rejected); University of Augsburg (Data Science); University of Düsseldorf (Artificial Intelligence and Data Science); University of Würzburg (Artificial Intelligence); Chemnitz University of Technology (Automotive Software Engineering); and Technical University of Berlin (Computer Science - slim chance, not a good fit for my major).

I deeply regret underestimating my chances and not applying to the University of Brandenburg, Clausthal University (missing a major), or other lower-ranked universities.

I didn't apply to Chemnitz University of Technology's Network Engineering program because I was more interested in another program, Automotive Software Engineering, but now I'm worried they might have hardware requirements. My hardware courses seem to only include basic electronics, computer organization, and assembly language. I submitted my undergraduate thesis (on traffic detection, I'm not sure if it matches), so I'm panicking because I'm afraid Chemnitz won't accept me either.

I submitted my applications quite late, mostly before the deadlines, mainly because my APS certificate came out too late, causing me to miss many opportunities.

Hopefully, things will improve.
