What can legally be used as a director address for a BC Company?
TL;DR; Can a staffed virtual office be used for the director address when incorporating a company in BC?
I'm struggling to find a definitive answer on what can be used as director address when incorporating a company in BC. I've had one lawyer tell me it must be a residential address, and another point me to the BC Registry definition which seems to be more flexible:
>Definition of Director's Addresses
>The director may select to provide either (a) the delivery address and, if different, the mailing address for the office at which the individual can usually be served with records between 9:00 a.m. and 4 p.m. on business days or (b) the delivery address and, if different, the mailing address of the individual's residence. The delivery address must not be a post office box.
I'm using a lawyers office for the company's registered and records office address, but I would like to also avoid using my residential address for the director's address since this is in the public domain. Lawyer's generally won't allow their office to be used for director addresses.
In the absence of having a physical business location, the best option seems to be a staffed virtual office, as that seems to satisfy the requirements above but I'm not 100% sure. Indeed, many virtual offices mention their ability to be used as a company's registered office to maintain privacy, but are silent on the use as a director address (even when they allow individuals to be named alongside the company for their mail handling).
