How would you describe a Earl/Mike/Mavi/Navy Blue fan?
It maybe a weird question to ask on here, I didn't particularly grew up listening to Earl ( I was more of that era of Chicago music - Noname, Chance, Jamila Woods, Mick Jenkins, Saba)
When I first started listening to Earl (with Some Rap Songs) I really liked the experimental and poetic drive which opened me to some more artist like Navy Blue and Medhane, obviously MIKE.
This said in my university when I started talking about it people were so confused than a girl was even listening to them and basically said that I'm probably into depressed ashy n****s that walk bare foot or something. I still listen to them today really do like the very jazzy grounded and almost spiritual work they do. My favorite artist is aja monet so I love anything that sounds like it.
This said do you think the stereotype of fans stuck or is accurate? is there other young women listening or do you think I'm basically alone here jk.
I bet there is a bunch of white people listening to the music which hey they're everywhere 🤷🏾♀️
but I'm more so curious about black folks aesthetic and understanding given that it really feels like that's a genre of rap deeply embedded in almost a form of black spirituality
