Hi. I'm traveling to Thailand for 3 weeks from late October through to November.

My current itinerary is:

Chiang Mai - 6 days

Lampang - 1 day

Sukhotai/Phitsanulok - 2 days

Khao Yai - 1 day

Koh Kood - 3 days

Bangkok - 7 days

Is this a decent itinerary?

I am wondering if there are any additional places between Chiang Mai & Bangkok that are worth stopping in for a day or two. And if I should just make Khao Yai a day trip from Bangkok instead of staying there overnight, especially since I'm not sure if you can get to/from there without passing through Bangkok anyway.

I'm traveling to Thailand for the first time this November and Chiang Mai is my first stop.

I'm planning to stay here 6 days before heading south ambit I'm wondering which area is best to stay in.

I'll probably only spend one or two days in Chiang Mai itself for the old city and some of the night markets, as I want to do quite a few excursions to the surrounding area. Elephant sanctuary, sri lanna national park etc.

Would it be better to book accomodations closer to the city center or is staying a little further out doable?
