How do I get out of bedbug hell
I'm writing this at 4 am unable to go back to sleep after I found a bedbug in my bed. Again.
So two days ago I stayed at a really cute hostel on the camino Portuguese, unfortunately I woke up with bites and found a bedbug in my bed. I informed the hostel and, since I wanted to take a rest day for other reasons anyways, I was transferred to a different room. They let me use the washing machine for free to wash everything on 60° and all the things that weren't fit for the wash I put into the freezer - including my sleeping bag, which I hadn't used though since there had been blankets provided.
I wasn't able to do anything with my backpack but I figured, since it hadn't really been on the bed or anything it was probably going to be fine.
The following night in the same hostel was without further incidents. However tonight I'm in a new town in a different Albergue and I found bites on me again and a live bedbug which I photographed and killed.
I stuffed my sleeping bag into the freezer and I am now lying under a towel provided by the albergue, feeling ashamed for potentially bringing them here and not knowing what to do. Sure I'm going to clean all of my stuff AGAIN. But at this point I'm terrified I'm just going to carry them from albergue to albergue. How the hell am I supposed to get everything decontaminated while on the camino? The internet says I have to leave things in the freezer for 3-4 days, I don't stay that long anywhere. And besides, I need my clothes and sleeping bag or otherwise I will be cold. And even if I figure all of that out, how do I ensure my backpack is clean?
I feel genuinely so lost right now. I feel like it isn't responsible for me to stay anywhere or I'll risk giving them to other places or people.
So how do I get rid of them with only the limited resources that the albergues (and a limited budget) provide??
