T. Iboga Cuttings Push Out Some New Growth!

These bad boys spent a little over two weeks in the mail, traveling all the way from Cameroon to the US. I got them prepped, dipped, and placed into some moist, airy soil. They've been kept warm under high humidity for the last week and a half.

In that short time, 3 out of the 4 cuttings have already begun pushing out new growth, at least above the soil. All three are growing from two nodes as well. Hopefully, root growth is coming along just as nicely. I also applied a fairly strong IBA rooting hormone to give them a little extra help.

Taking a closer look at the 4th cutting, I'm not even sure it has any viable growth points on it. There's also a large tear running up the side of the bark. Even so, I wouldn't have any complaints if 3 out of 4 end up making it.

Pictured in the last photo is the iboga sapling I germinated from seed, which I also obtained from Cameroon. Unfortunately, I recently overwatered it due to a broken drip irrigator that went unnoticed.

The roots are still healthy, and she'll pull through, just a bit of a setback. The soil she was in wasn't ideal anyway, so it was probably for the best. After all, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Questions and advice are welcome! Happy 4th of July yall!

Two Months in and Taking Shape

Two months into this seasons grow, and things are right on schedule. Around 130 seeds were planted with 100 or so germinating, a handful of which died early on. About a 75% germination rate, which is what I have come to expect from my pool of genetics.

Most have transitioned out of the small green ball phase and have begun adopting that classic loph appearance with defined ribs and several rows of areoles.

I added a thin layer of ≤1/8 inch grit to the surface for some added support and further deter the growth of algae. If I notice growth slowling at all over the next couple of months, I will gently push a few more pellets of osmocote plant plus into the soil.

My full procedure can be found in the comments. Questions welcome as always!
