New house with a muddy “lawn” and dirty dogs…what should I throw down to fill it out?
Not looking to grow a bunch of grass in the backyard that’s giving me trouble, really looking for a native solution that grows quickly and easily to help with my muddy floor issue while simultaneously being an easy and native plant. My first thought was something like clover but figured there were bound to be better, native, solutions.
As long as it doesn’t look particularly shitty I’m good with whatever. If there’s a native flower (or set of flowers) that grows to a reasonable grass-ish height I’d be more than happy with that as well! Renting so want to have a reasonable defense against “you just grew a bunch of weeds” and feel I can fight that if it looks good, isn’t too tall, and doesn’t spread to other yards. Helps if it’s a native plant/flower helping the environment while stopping my dogs from tracking mud everywhere…
