I suspect a possible GI bleed

Hello, I'm a 26 yr old F who got put on blood thinners back in March due to two small blood clots in each side of my lower lungs. Those have gone away but I still have to continue my blood thinners (eliquis) most likely for the rest of my life because of a blood clotting disorder. The one they believe I have is prothrombin gene mutation F2. I haven't seen a rheumatologist yet but I have seen an oncologist once last month. I also have a suspected autoimmune disease called Mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD).

Fast forward to maybe a week ago I was having some constipation issues and I do take iron pills every other day but noticed some blood in my stool and told my primary doctor about it. I never went to get checked out for it but have been noticing lower blood pressures and a bit of a faster heartbeat here and there. My doctor got concerned and ran a blood test of some sort for my hemoglobin and that came back fine. I went to the hospital on the 5th for more blood in my stool and they only checked my blood levels and hemoglobin, no sort of ct scan or anything. The doctor that evaluated me told me that I'm to young to have a GI bleed and to go home. I've been experiencing abdominal pain lately.. the blood has gone away but I'm still concerned about a possible GI bleed weather it's a slow one or not. I'm on blood thinners and apparently GI bleeds are a serious thing?

Nobody is taking it seriously though and the next time I go to see my primary doctor is on the 13th. I don't want to just sit around and wait for more possible symptoms, I have a newborn that I take care of daily. I can't afford to leave this earth. The reason for not running a scan is because I've had 14 scans in the last 4 months. 7 on my head, 3 on my abdomen without iodine and 1 with contrast and 3 on my chest. What can I do to get them to take me seriously? I also have to wait on a referral for a GI doctor which who knows how long that will actually take.

Food interactions with Eliquis:

My PCP only told to stay away from Grapefruit as it could cause you to bleed increasingly more while on any blood thinner. That being said do I need to watch out for any other sort of food or spice interactions? I just started taking D3 800 IU daily because my vitamin D level is sitting at 17 atm. My supplement bottle is strictly only D3 no K2.

I hear taking magnesium glycinate or any sort of magnesium is good with vitamin D in general but I don't do well with magnesium supplements so I was wanting to take 2 handfuls of cooked pumpkin seeds with my D3 daily as long as that doesn't interfere or interact with my Eliquis. Any information on what foods/spices I can or can't have with blood thinners would be greatly appreciated!

I think I have heart failure or issues with my heart.

I had my first and only baby in January, I haven't been to a doctor for 8 years prior to having my baby. I am a 26yr F who weighs 190lbs. I know that I'm overweight and I don't need rude or unnecessary comments. I have been working on trying to lose weight for a few years but can never seem to lose it.

I am now seeing a primary doctor who has no clue about my health history as I don't know either. I didn't see anyone for eight years. I have never been on medications until recently. I was thrown onto blood pressure medication roughly 5 weeks after delivery. Eneded up coming off of the medication because I didn't have blood pressure problems, I had 2 blood clots in my lungs that spiked my blood pressures and gave me tons of other symptoms. This was all before I started going to my current doctor.

Fast forward to now, I am only taking one medication and that is my eliquis (blood thinner) 5mg 2x daily for the blood clots that I got diagnosed with back on march 4th. Lately my blood pressures have been dropping into mildly lows and my doctor is suggesting I stop my medication until my very first appointment with a hematologist which is scheduled for the 13th. He's concerned of a possible GI bleed and obviously the low bp's. I've been told by tons of ER doctors that I need to take the eliquis for 3-6-9 months for full recovery of the clots.. it's only been 2 months and I'm terrified to discontinue the eliquis for the next 3 days until my appointment.

I've been extremely fatigued no matter how much sleep I get. It's affecting my quality of life. My blood pressures are on the lower side. I've been feeling nauseous and lightheaded along with seeing floaters in my eyes.

What are the signs and symptoms of heart failure?

Is there a higher chance of being diagnosed with heart failure after having a baby? I have heard so many times that the percentage goes up when you decide to have children.

Can heart failure or heart problems cause low bp's?

Should I ask my primary doctor to refer me to a cardiologist?

Eliquis question

Did anyone else experience low blood pressure while taking eliquis 5mg 2x daily? My blood pressure is in the normal ranges for my baseline and lately it's been on the mildly low side. My primary is a bit concerned about it. I only take the eliquis for recent blood clots, no other medications.

Coming off of Eliquis after 9 weeks question

It was discovered I had clots in both sides of my lungs 9 weeks ago. I was told by the er doctors to stay on the medication for 3-6 months to fully heal.

I've been on eliquis 5mg 2x daily since the discovery, a doctor that I have recently been going to recommended me to hold off on the eliquis until my appointment with hematology due to my stool test coming back positive for bleeding. Eliquis gives a warning that you have a great chance of developing a clot after discontinuing the medication. This may sound dumb but is it because your body goes into overdrive making the "sticky stuff" that it hasn't had while on the eliquis? Or is it that your blood just goes back to normal baseline but since you had a clot before it could always happen again? I expressed my concerns of stopping the medication to my doctor but he believes I should stop cold turkey due to the GI bleeding. I don't know if it's minor or major bleeding, I will be getting a EGD test done and an colonoscopy done.

What are your stories of stopping or coming off of Eliquis before the 3-6-9 months mark? Did you have a reoccurring clot after discontinuing the medication or have you been just fine without the eliquis since? Is it dangerous if I were to consider continuing my medication even with the GI bleeding until my appointment with a hematologist? I'm deathly afraid of another blood clot.

PSA I have already talked to my doctor about everything but since I have little to no health history upon going to him and in general, he is just giving me his recommendations and concerns until I get more tests done from a hematologist and rheumatologist.

I am a 26 yr old F. I had two blood clots in both sides of my lungs on march 4th. Before discovering the blood clots, I had my baby in January of this year and wasn't staying as hydrated as I should have been after birth. Keep in mind I never been to a doctor or had a primary care provider since 2018.

Well fast forward to now, the primary I have recently been going to says that eliquis has major concerns for possible bleeding in the GI and told me that it's not protocol for me nor anyone to stay on eliquis for 3-6 months after blood clots. The er doctor I had seen for the two days I spent in the hospital says accordingly to stay on the eliquis that long so my body can heal properly without clotting again in the future. I express my concerns and so my primary ends up keeping me on the eliquis 5mg 2x daily, I have an appointment with a hematologist soon. My primary ran blood work and I have some sort of blood clotting disorder but he believes the blood clots came from my c-section surgery and not from the clotting disorder. On top of that I have some sort of autoimmune disease along with iron deficiency anemia.

Well today he reached out to me and recommends for me to stop the eliquis for the next 5 days until my hematologist appointment because I did a stool test and it came back positive for bleeding. He wants me to do an EGD test and colonoscopy to make sure it's minor and not major bleeding.

My question is would it be considered safe to stop the eliquis after roughly just 2 months even if I had provoked or unprovoked clots? He seems to believe I'll be fine but I'm uneasy because of the new discovery of my blood clotting disorder and autoimmune disease. I am absolutely terrified to ever have another clot in my body ever again but I'm also afraid if I don't stop the medication it may slowly put me in the er for bleeding to death... My blood pressures have been on the lower side lately along with stomach pains after taking the eliquis. My blood pressure tonight was 95/55 and pulse was 70 while sitting down. This may sound dumb but does stopping the medication make your body go back to baseline or does it go into overdrive making tons more "sticky stuff" and that's why most people get reoccurring blood clots after stopping? Is it likely to get more blood clots in the span of 5 days of stopping the eliquis? Does the risk of stopping the medication outweigh the bleeding concerns?
