Commute or accom?

Hi,

I am going to University of Derby this September to do Adult Nursing, I live in Leeds and was wondering if it would be possible for me to commute rather than staying in an accommodation. I will be based at the Derby campus on Kedleston Road.

The train from Leeds to Derby is 1hr which I don’t mind, the whole reason why I’d prefer to commute is I would like to save some money here and there to do my driving lessons, and save up for a car etc for second year. I can’t really do that if i have an accom as I’ll be using most of it to pay it off, then having to budget for food, essentials etc.

I also have a job at primark doing 4 hour shifts which I wouldn’t mind keeping and changing my hours e.g. working weekends or 2 days throughout the week if I can, if I move to Derby most likely I won’t be wanting to travel back for 4 hour shifts. Would this all be doable or am I living in delulu land?

Thankssss

Access to he health professions learn direct?

Hi,

I’m stuck between going for the Access to HE (health professions) course with learn direct or going to my local college.

The only downside with going to my local college is that I won’t be able to do their access course due to me not having my maths and english qualification, they don’t allow you to study them alongside the course unfortunately. My only option would be to do a “Preparing to work in adult social care” level 1 course for a year then go on to do the same course but as a level 3, then finally the access course after. I’m thinking that’s a waste of 3 years of my life, I’m currently 27.

With the learn direct access course I was thinking to do my Maths and English level 2 alongside it, which then I can go university next year September. Do you think I will struggle? Because I keep seeing people say it’s hard and draining etc. I mean I have been out of education for 2 years, I was on a law course previously and decided it wasn’t for me, I’ve also done distance learning before with the OU and managed but I don’t want to be too confident LMAO.

Hi,

This morning I tried to buy and iPhone 17 pro max for £1195 but it declined, I already had an active plan so was confused why it kept declining, I rang them and they basically just said keep trying. I decided to pay one of the payments on my plan that wasn’t due until 29th May to see if it would work, 4 hours later I tried apply for stuff a bit lower, the max it let me do was £440. I then thought to just pay the last instalment and see if it will increase, it’s been 3 hours since I paid it. I’ve now gone to try again to see if my limit increased but now it won’t let me go above £190? Does anyone have any idea why it’s done that?

Thankssss

Hi,

I currently have a plan with affirm via shop pay that I’ve been paying, I went to order something else and it keeps saying it can’t verify my phone number? I have even tried on private browser and it just says the same thing. I don’t understand because my phone number is the same from when I made my first order, I can still login my account with the number too. I’m also from the UK.

Thanks
