Boyd is the one who caused the curse and started it all

Boyd is the one who caused the curse and started it all

When the tree sent him to the well, he went back to 1506 or earlier. There, in that room, he freed the entity "Martin" (maybe he's the man in yellow.)

Someone bound the entity with a ritual to protect people from its evil, but Boyd set it free. Once released, it made the pact : child sacrifice for immortality, and that is how Fromville was created.

Julie thought that her time travel would save them, but it was actually the opposite, she was the reason because she threw the rope down to Boyd.

So it’s a time loop . The curse brought Boyd to Fromville, and Boyd is the one who caused the curse. It has no beginning, that’s why we see the infinity symbol (∞) on Boyd’s ring and on the cave walls. This also explains why Boyd is the one on the poster.

1- What Sarah said was very clear: it is laughing at Boyd for setting it free, and it wants to make them suffer. It is almost certain that Martin is evil.

2- Martin giving blood is just like what MIY does

3- The dungeon looks very old, probably the oldest thing there. Since it's a ruin now, that means Boyd traveled back in time.

4- Why did the tree send Boyd there? The entity in the present has the ability to control the trees, and since it knows Boyd, it knows he must travel back in time to free Martin. And the same goes for Julie. She said she felt that something wanted her to enter the ruins. Maybe it was the entity.

5- How did Martin know about Abby, Julie and the Faraway trees? He can read minds, as we have seen that the monsters and the MIY know things they haven't heard

6- Why did he say he is a Marine? To trick Boyd. Boyd would help anyone, but if it was a Marine, he would try even harder. Everything Martin did was an act to convince Boyd that he is a good guy.

7- Since there are rituals, why was Boyd able to free him? Maybe because to break them, you need to reach the dungeon, have a pure intention to set him free, and have unwavering hope

8- BIW told Sarah to enter through the tree because it would take them to a safe place, but the entity changed Boyd’s direction. Since I believe BIW is sent by the children, maybe the children themselves are the reason behind their curse.

Maybe this is what the creators meant when they said this about Julie: "There is a big difference between going back and changing the story as opposed to finding out you're part of the reason the story played out that way in the first place."

This would be a great ending, because the answer was right in front of us from the beginning

The series is inspired by several stories

The series is inspired by several stories, and I don't think any one of them is the main story. The main story is original.

The Spider, the Yellow King, Blood connection, the Crossroads, the nightmares, and the Old Maid cards, etc… all these theories might be partly correct, but none of them are the main story.

The only thing all these theories share is that the place has magic that makes stories come true.

That's why even though many of the theories seem right, we still haven't figured anything out.

Timeline of Each Cycle and Its Characters

1506: In That  year the parents -now monsters- sacrificed their children for immortality, and the curse was unleashed./ The original Jade and Tabitha/ Anghkooeys.

1609: Jade and Tabitha's first reincarnation.

1672: The pilgrims Miranda painted.

1752: Maybe The Skull Man (Jade)

1773: Maybe The Skull Man

1864: The Civil War Soldier (Jade) / Maybe Little Tabitha/ Maybe Martin

1883: Maybe Little Tabitha/ Maybe Martin

1931: The  Man Crushed by Rock (Jade)

1978: Christopher and Miranda / Victor / Sofia (likely died before Victor's arrival)

2022: The arrival of Jade and Tabitha (the Matthews family)

These are the dates in Tabitha’s vision of the lighthouse stairs, Before she could remember anything. Her subconscious reminded her

1506 maybe the sacrifice happened before that, and this is actually Jade and Tabitha's first cycle back.
So, Tabitha and Jade are either  the 10th or 11th versions, most likely the 10^(th)

From this, we know that the new versions of Jade and Tabitha are not born immediately after the previous ones die

Or maybe these are just some of the dates and not all of them, but I think it's all of them

**Some characters appear more than once because I'm not sure which date they belong to.

Other dates.
2018: Donna's arrival
2019: Boyd's family arrival
2021: Fatima, Kenny, Kristi, and Sara's arrival.

There are two opposing forces here

There are two opposing forces here: the entity that created the curse and the cursed children. They created a counter-power, made the trees and protected them. Maybe they are the reason Tabitha and Jade were brought here to save them, and awakened their memories.
And they are the ones who send the dogs, Khatri, and the Boy in White (which is why he is not a real person, and appears in modern clothes because he takes a form that suits whoever is in front of him) I think they play a role in the visions, some come from them, not actual memories, which is why we saw two different views in Jade's hallucinations. Also, the talismans and the totem are on their side. .
The entity sends the monsters, the Kimono Woman, the dolls, and the Man in Yellow (I'm not sure he is the main villain . The voices and phone calls belong to him) and traps them in the dungeon. What else is there? .
The children want to free their souls.
The evil entity feeds on the fears of the trapped people, and even the souls of the dead ones. That is why it wants to keep the curse, and it seems it has another purpose. .
And maybe we’re being misled, and both entities are evil.
**The red figure drawn on the cave walls is the entity

The Man in Yellow has been among them from the beginning

He knew Jim's name and knew about digging the hole.

Abby went through what Henry is going through. How did he make her drink his blood?

Clara met him (likely face to face, because she recognized him by his eyes).

.

To be clear, Clara wasn't the one who told him all this, because she wondered if meeting him was real.

.

I thought he had a magical ability that allowed him to know everything But considering that Clara had to tell him about the change in plan and given Sophia's many questions, it’s pretty clear he doesn’t have that ability

.

All of this strongly suggests that he has been among them before.

.

He might have actually been Tilli (even though we don’t know how he got on the bus).

Or does he have a spy?

The final episode

In the final episode, Boyd finds the boat Abby bought him and escapes with Ellis because it can't carry everyone

Maybe we have now discovered why the number of monsters exceeds the number of the parents!

It seems there are ways for even those who didn't take part in the curse rituals to turn into monsters. What happened to Fatima could be one of those ways (I think we're on the same page that she will transform after what Kristi said) . Could it be that the monsters are from different times? Meaning, there are 12 original monsters, and the rest were added over time?

This is just a simple attempt to solve the monster count mystery.

In this scene, I felt really sorry for Victor. 💔

This was supposed to be his life if he wasn’t stuck in this damn place.
