Hello,
I've just added a new feature: push notifications.
Everyone who is using a device that's supporting push notifications should be prompted about it on their project page.
If you approve, your daily album reminder will be sent as a push notification.
There's a huge amount of users that just signs up without an email then forget about the site. This a way to reach those.
But let me know if something doesn't seem to work as expected with it.
Just a heads-up: I've set up a Discord server for contributors.
If you're a contributor, open your project menu and click "Contribute" to grab the invite. It's got album quizzes, a couple of stats bots, and already some great conversation going (200+ members!).
I've also removed the old "submit a user-album" perk for Patrons. To keep the user-album list exclusive, submitting an album is now earned by finishing a project (and the top Patron tier keeps it too).
The Discord takes its place as the contributor perk.
I'm keeping it contributor-only for now, mostly to keep it small and easy to manage and moderate. We'll see how this goes, maybe part of the server will be made public in the future.
I usually don't mention when i do small updates but this was quite a few things at once so i thought why not write it down for once!?
As discussed in another post, where someone had all three Tim Buckley albums in a row, i was curious to find out if there's any other crazy runs out there.
This Bowie-run was the wildest i could find. Also it was the users first 4 albums alltogether. If - and that's a big IF - my math is correct, the odds of that happening are about 1 in 374 million.
There were quite a few other three-in-a-row artist runs, but they were mostly from artists with five or more albums in the list, so not as rare as the Tim Buckley one.
I've been meaning to get rid of Amazon for a while now but with so much data i wasn't exactly looking forward to the move.
Luckily it went pretty smooth (at least so far, haven't noticed any issues from my initial tests).
We're now fully running from Hetzner.
Feels good not being attached to Amazon, and let's just say it's better for the environment as well!
Same price, 4x the performance.
The expected outcome for users visiting the site should be that it's working the same as before.
Let me know if you find anything weird.
Things are a bit shaky but when I'm writing this everything seems to be working.
This subreddit has grown quite a bit recently, and I don't have a huge amount of time to keep it moderated.
The workload is still pretty light (only a handful of posts have needed removal so far), but as we've discussed recently, a bit more active moderation would probably be nice.
So before anything else i just wanna check: are there any volunteers interested in becoming a moderator?
Ideally, i'm looking for someone who's already active here and understands the tone and direction of the community. I've got a few names in mind but let's see!
If you're interested, drop a comment or send me a message with a bit about your activity here and why you’d be a good fit and we'll take it from there!
