Season 2 Episode 18

Almost done with season 2 in my re-watch and noticed something that I hadn't noticed before. Davis is sitting in class and I noticed she has 5 rows on her ribbon rack. In one of the previous episodes, she says that she's been in the Navy for 8 years. The instructor then says she's been in for more than 12 years. What caught me off guard was the fact that a Marine with more than a decade of service has about half the ribbons as someone with at least 4 years less in years of service.

While I get that it's common for some to have more ribbons than a person senior to them, this seems a little too much. That's a lot of ribbons for an 8 year vet while someone with nearly twice the experience Doesn't even have 3 full rows on their rack. I'm only saying that cause a person has to excel to have been chosen for that billet. Lisa must have been one squared away Sailor!!

Season 1 Episode 8

Curious if anyone else noticed the mistake in this episode. I didn’t notice it when I first watched the show but now that I’m watching again I noticed that while transporting the group of detainees for a prisoner exchange Ray and Sonny are talking about whether Clay will get picked.

Both characters say Clay’s full name in front of known taliban members…. Call me crazy, but why on earth would they do that?! 😂😂🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

I’m not “frog man”, but I’m willing to bet no SF sailor or soldier would ever do that.

BOLO question time!

I'll try to make this as short as possible.

I've been working for my agency for close to 10 years. In that time, I've come to notice something that I find VERY annoying and also slightly dangerous. One of the dept policies is that the dispatcher is always signed into CJIS in case there's an arrest or we need to check/print out a person's criminal record. Since starting here, I've noticed that a shit ton of departments in my state seem to think that you need to send BOLO's to every single agency in the state. I'm talking for every day normal stuff like overdue drivers, vehicles involved in hit and runs, etc. While I get that the agency needs to do investigations and also needs to CYA/do their jobs, why in the heck does a dept clear on the other side of the state think they need to send BOLO's out to agencies that are HOURS away !? IMO, this can (and does) lead to "alarm fatigue". I get so many notices that I end up skipping most of the messages I get simply because the issue is minor or because the person(s) they're looking for couldn't have possibly made it out this far in the time frame they're reporting.

So my question is this: Does anyone else deal with this ?? Are agencies all over the US sending out a BOLO for an overdue driver to every single agency in their state? I totally get it if someone is clearly a danger or IN danger, but if a 42 year old guy that is perfectly healthy (mentally and physically) is 2 hours late coming home from work, do we really need to be sending a statewide BOLO for them??

Season 9 Episode 18

I can't figure out who I'm more annoyed with in this episode. Penny/Bernadette/Amy or Raj

Who in their right mind would turn down Emily for a meet up after the gift she got him?!? And WHY the hell were the ladies so against him seeing her?!? He dumped her for no other reason besides getting with Claire. So what was their issue with her?? Raj should have been jumping at the chance!

lebron james

I just wanted to say that I absolutely loathe him as a player. Especially when he does that stupid "crown" shit. Jordan is the king. Jordan has more rings in 8 less seasons. Jordan was better defensively and wasn't anywhere near as cocky AND was a hell of a lot more modest. That and Jordan played in an era that was far more physical which made what he did all that more insane.

Good lord, Bernadette is controlling and rude!!

Season 8 Episode 6

Sitting in their living room Howard, Bernadette, Penny, and Leonard are talking about money issues in a relationship. While talking, Bernadette points out that she "makes SO more than he does.". Howard points out that she didn't need to add that she makes "SO" into the statement and she says "well I did it for accuracy". She then goes on to question "what he brings to the relationship". IMO, at that point Howard should have said "I don't know... Maybe the house we're going to inherit??"

Same conversation she asks him if he "asked her" before spending money. Which HEAVILY implies that even though he has a job and brings money into the household that he's required to ask her before spending a single penny. I'm not sure if it was purposeful, but I feel like the writers sometimes flipped certain issues and stereotypes that happen in relationships as a joke. Cause if you really look at it, all three women pretty much run their relationships/are the dominant person.

I know, I know. Some of you are gonna say "well, it's a tv show". I know that. But fans of the show on this sub are allowed to talk about the show and the opinions we have on episodes and scenes.

Annoying calls that make you laugh?

As annoying as they are because (IMO) I think it's a ridiculous waste of resources AND a giant waste of the patients money.... When an adult knowingly smokes, vapes, or eats too much of a THC product and then calls 911 with a silly complaint. Especially when the town only has a few ambulances in the first place.

Tonight's call was for an adult male that ate too many THC gummies and then called 911 cause his arm felt numb. I can't help but wonder what kind of health insurance the person has and what it'll cost them to go in an ambulance to the ER for that.

One of my biggest pet peeves as a dispatcher

Obviously, a vast majority of us are used to relaying BOLO's from other agencies. One of my biggest pet peeves is when a dispatcher lacks the common sense to spell out a person's name or decides to put out a BOLO for someone where they tell us the person's name, doesn't spell the name, and then when I call them for the proper spelling, they say "Oh, we can give you their driver's license number"..... Really?? So why tf wouldn't you have just given that out in the first place?!?! That, or they leave out things like clothing description, what the person looks like, or where they were last seen.

I understand that there's times when you don't have certain information, but if you do or you simply didn't ask the caller, at least have to common sense to say it.

EDIT : Just wanted to thank everyone for their input and stories. This is a great sub and I'm glad I found it. Has to be the only sub I follow where there's rarely any sort of disagreements between users. Y'all are great!!

I hate when a movie looks funny but then you watch and realize you saw ALL the funny parts of the movie in the previews.

Bored and watching the recent released movie "The Breadwinner". If you're not familiar, it stars Nate Bargatze (comic) in which his wife goes away for work and he's left to handle running the house. When I say the movie sucked, I mean it SUCKED.

Not that it's that big of an issue, but when are writers going to stop making fathers look like complete morons that don't know how to do ANYTHING around the house?!?

The long and short of this movie is that "dad" (Nate) royally fucked everything up. We're talking laundry, cooking, cleaning, shopping, and raising his kids. At one point, he doesn't even know the name of his kid's schools or where they are.

There can't be fathers out there that are this clueless. I'll admit that some of the movie was funny, but a vast majority was just ridiculous.

Teenagers... am I right?!?

Not really a rant about teens. More of a pet peeve. As most of us are likely in the US, we all know what summer means.... Teens out doing teenager shit. Personally, I usually don't mind. This is normal for our line of work. That said, it really bothers me when their only reason for calling and ratting on their peers because they didn't get invited to the party.

I took two calls tonight for the same "party" from people (cracks me up when people don't know this) that weren't even close to where they actually were. Both goof balls were MILES away and were telling me that they could hear the music and could see "kids" outside the house drinking. The funniest part of this call was BOTH the "reporting parties" are well known to us for being trouble. Drugs, stealing, drinking, and sleeping around town/causing relationship drama cause they seem to enjoy sleeping with other kid's boyfriends and girlfriends.

As I said, I don't have any issue doing my job nor do I take issue with stopping teenagers from drinking. But when your only reason for calling is because you're mad you can't go, that's some BS.

Ignorant mods are really annoying!!

WHY?!?! Why is it that users aren't allowed to question mods?! It is so damn annoying when you go into a sub to share your view on something and can't because a mod removed the post half way through you typing because they THINK if violated a rule. I mean it's clear as day that the post wasn't in violation of the rule. Then, if you question it in a private message, they give you a ban and mute you. Worst offender was a mod that told me to "drop it cause I won't like what comes next if you don't". Then another mod posted in a sub that if they catch anyone posting in another sub, they'd ban them from the sub they mod!! Like.... Are you for real, dude?!? You're now searching subs you're not even a mod in because you are so power hungry that you can't even focus on the sub you're supposed to be monitoring!?! It drives me nuts cause I can't even really complain cause I'm worried some power trip mod will see my post in this sub and ban me from the sub forever.

Personal opinions of which episode is the worst/which episode annoys you every time you see it.

Season 4 Episode 18: The Prestidigitation Approximation

In the episode, Leonard suffers through Priya trying to change him by pressuring him into getting contacts, wearing new clothes, and ending his friendship with Penny. While the Penny thing is certainly troubling, I found the contacts portion of it to be so annoying. No one is that blind while still wearing brand new contacts. There's no way a doctor would ever allow their patient to leave the office wearing glasses or contacts that weren't actually helping. I get that this is a comedy, but the whole "walking into everything" nonsense is way over the top.

The scene at the University where Leonard bumps into everything and everyone was cheesy as hell.

Same shit, different day

WHY?!?!?!

Why can't people take 1-5 minutes to proof read their post before putting it up?!? I'm cool with a few mistakes here and there, but FFS!! I just read a 4 paragraph post on one of my favorite subs and it was riddled with spelling errors, wrong words, and grammar mistakes.

As I said, I'm cool with a few here and there. Especially shit like "there, their, and they're", but when I'm reading it and I have to stop reading and go back to figure out wtf you're saying at least 10 times in one post, you're just being lazy.

I'm not sure about anyone else, but when I make spelling or grammar mistakes, this site tells me with that red line under the word or blue line. So what's the deal here?!?

Hypocrite John Leguizamo

Fuck that guy. He's always talking shit about when white people play the role of a Latin person. Claiming that only a Latino should play the role of a Latino. But not him though. He can play whatever role he wants. Just saw the preview for The Odyssey and low and behold, that hypocritical asshole is playing the role of a Greek man when he's not at all Greek.

Personally, I look at acting for what it is.... A person pretending to be someone they're not. So they don't need to be straight to play the role of a straight guy. No need for the actor to be disabled in order to play a guy in a wheel chair. And you don't need to be Italian to play an Italian guy.

As a Latin guy, it really bothers me when people like him make the rest of us look bad as if we're always the victim of white people. I wish I had the chance to meet him so I could tell him he's making himself look like a hypocritical ass.

Hilarious exchange on the radio!!

I have to ask, has anyone else heard an officer accidentally key their mic and get caught “open mic” having an inappropriate conversation??

Just the other day, I’m working a shift where I’m tasked with training a brand new dispatcher. We’re sitting there between calls and I hear the radio key up. I took at the screen and it’s not our channel, but it’s the county wide channel.

At first I ignored it cause it was clear that it was an open mic. To my surprise, this dude starts dropping F bombs!! It was “only” about 30 seconds, but holy shit was it funny!! He was talking about a recent incident in my area where a suspect was fighting with the cops and was ridiculed in the media for “treating a mentally ill person like that”.

Curious if anyone else has experienced this and what was said.

I'm sure this has been talked about, but I couldn't find any talk about it (for the most part). I can't help but wonder how much Penny would have needed to spend in order to rent the batmobile. lol, I know it'd be pure speculation, but I'm curious what other people think it could possibly cost.
