100% Ultima Challenges
Ask me anything if you need help.
I have a very robust support slot set up and I have the general urs at +8 [ Ramza, Minwu, Wall, Yshtola] I unfortunately stand from a point of privilige to be able to clear all missions.
I will not bring hope to F2P that it is possible to clear ALL the Ultima Missions for everyone. There are 4 Kinds of missions and no amount of "keep trying" will let you clear the ones that say "Do x amount of damage" You almost need to be 15K CP to kinda stand up to Ultima bots. 1200 Attack is nice enough for you to deal with the mobs. Sometimes if I can't muster up enough attack, I would bring Yshtola, Thundaga AND Jecht.
In order to beat these missions it really feels like you need to have 1 copy of all the general URs [Except Wall]. So my advice wont be f2p friendly in that regard. However, even though I have the general URs fully stacked, I do have the Unit specific URs at like level1, some at 10 etc. due to eggs.

These things are just some of the best things for Ultima:
#1 Support Unit= Firion. WHY? When you Cheer a Firion, its like you are healing him. Cuz when the bot is maxed, it heads straight to the boss and attacks.
#1 UR ABILITY = Ramza. When you Cheer a bot, you tell him to go attack the boss. In Ultima, the ally bots are way stronger than you so let them kill the boss. Support them.
#1 SR ABILITY = SR Heal. Very good for those missions where you need to do other thing for set amount of times. Sometimes you will need to kill 27 monsters but at Ultima difficulty you are at the risk of dying to a Flan.
#1 SUPPORT DUO FAST CLEAR: Firion/Rinoa/Terra [ or any dps with Hope ] The main thing here is units that can self sustain. Your ai with Hope vs an enemy without it has the odds favored more on your side.
#1 SUPPORT DUO SLOW CLEAR: Lightning/ Zidane [ or any Agile Characters] The Agile class is not built for damage but with a lot of effort you can still make them win. That amount of effort will show up in your score as well.

DANGER: Restart your game if you are matched against:
Rikku: That double HP is too much of an advantage to overcome and sometimes enemy Rikku ai is actually good and copies 9999 brave over to team.
Sephiroth: Your main source of brave will come slowly by farming crystals. Seph's Nova can sometimes OHKO you or put you in a bad spot. I just don't like facing Seph and I restart.
The 5 Kinds of Ultima Missions
- "Do 125 Hits with your abilities and WIN"
Easiest one for F2P to clear. Difficulty: 2/10 SUPPORT UNIT RECOMMENDATIONS : Firion/Rinoa
Your ability level doesn't really matter. SR Thundaga Does 16 hits. Yhstola Does 20 hits. This is comfy if you have Minwu. Bots love to attack mobs and break crystals so its best to warp to one where you won't have competition. You can alwasy clear this as long as you eventually cheer your Allies to win. This kind of mission is the one where its just a matter of luck. Choose 2 strong boss killers like Firion/Gaia/CLoud/Rinoa and clear it.
- "Score 6000 Points"
Also Easy for even F2P to clear. 4/10 SUPPORT UNIT RECOMMENDATIONS: Tidus, Zidane or any 2 AGILE characters
Bring 2 Abilities that break crystals like Ysh/Jecht/Thundaga/ Unit SR, and have Ramza. If you need to score higher points: Pick 2 Team mates who are AGILE and then BE the reason why they win the fight. This is how you earn the MVP position. The way to score highest possible points with Ramza: If have 9999 Brave and give it to a newly spawning teammate who has 1000, you give 7999 Brave.
( For Gaia and Clive I chose the Ramza strat over just doing boss damage because competing with the ai bots for mvp when you are lower cp is annoying due to so many variables like boss targeting, more risk of dying from enemy players hunting you etc)
- " Do [random thing] 20 times in a fight and WIN" Tricky for F2P to clear depending on luck. Difficulty 5/10 SUPPORT UNIT RECOMMENDATIONS FAST CLEAR: Firion/Rinoa SUPPORT UNIT RECOMMENDATIONS SLOW CLEAR: AGILE characters
Emphasis is on the WIN part. Ramza, Ysh/Jecht/Thunda. Maybe bring an SR Heal. Be heavily focused in support and forget your own 2 URs. Do you task whether that is to run 1250 m or purify 11 Crystals. For these missions might be best to hard focus on playing support. Consider a loadout like Hope, Sr Heal, Ramza, Yshtola, Jecht. Having high attacks mean you can break crystals fasters. Sometimes I would have to use 2 abilites to break 1 crystal but if that's what it takes, so be it. If your allies win the match too slow or too fast nut mix and match and see what works
- "Do 1,100,00 Damage and WIN" Not Easy for F2P. Stats is King. Difficulty: 10/10 SUPPORT UNIT RECOMMENDATIONS: Anyone that has Ramza. BEST UNITS: Warrior of Light, Prompto.
Warrior of Light is so damn reliable and will fight other bots leaving most of them low health for you to pick off. Prompto is put here because he is the only one with an ability that decreases boss defense which means higher damage for you.
A good way to see where you stand is to try to do 1 full rotation and if you can get 33% of the damage in a rotation then you are in a good spot. 3 burst rotations is hard to get but still possible purely by breaking crystals and hoping that
Clearing this is about cold hard stats. You need to have like 1250 to 1500 attack in order to pull these off in the time limit. With this much attack you are actually able to kill off some low health enemies. Sniping them with Tifa/Ace is recommended and only do this when they are distracted.
It sure would be nice for me to say to bring Krile/Rikku but their ai is horrendous. I have struggled doing Prompto's "Do 5 Chain Attack" mission because for some reason the Kriles will Burst and run straight at the boss and never share Brave. Rikku is worse. She will use Quartet in the worst possible time and also bursts and Charges at the boss. You could just retry over and over and hope for the best. OR, you can search a Warrior of Light who has Heal or Ramza. My team mate Ryo is like top10 WoL. Find him and use that support cuz its just the perfect loadout for these kinds of missions. Getting Brave by killing players is bad because you have less abilities to use on the boss, unless you wait for cooldown, but at the cost of time. And we aint got time to waste.
For this mission I would like to talk about SR Surge for a minute. It actually is something you should heavily consider as a 30% attack boost is well worth it to consider dropping an ACE FIRE for Surge. Remember, our goal is boss damage. Ace is for human PvP matches.
[Beware: Surge isn't for everyone. It doesn't fit in with Iroha or Gaia because they are units that self buff attack already and the way attack buffs work, the newest one overrides, but also Gaia self-buffs by 50%]
- "Land the last hit" Easy and Hard at the same time for F2P. Difficulty: RNG SUPPORT UNIT RECOMMENDATIONS: RNGesus, Wol with Ramza BAN LIST: Gaia
Gaia is about huge delayed damage and she tends to take the last hit often.
This mission has varied difficulty. You could potentially hoard brave until the very end and piggy back off of a team mate during a chain burst and if the animations line up, you can end having the last hit. But its up to chance for a lot.
Having high bravery is bad because not only will King Behemoth kill you with 3 Meteors in a row, but enemy bots are also incentivized to kill you. If you are ever being chased remember to try to run into a fresh crystal or run towards your team mates and hope they fight.
A lot of things need to go right for the final moment. Having high attack helps but this challenge is hard because you need to count on the co-operation and timing of 5 ai bots and that's just a lot to hope for. This is just one that is beaten by trying over and over.
The End.
So to add a bit of a back story which will serve as a humble brag and a display of my extreme procrastination. I initially had no interest in Tidus. I got the character for free from the pass. Then I wanted to see if by sheer force of will if its possible for me to clear the Ultima Missions with none of his URs. I have Ace, Wall, Ysthola, Minwu and Ramza all at +8 and above and that's the build I went in with. Having a UR is great so I went after the easiest Ultima Mission I know I can beat which is the one where you have to do 86 hits with abilities. From there I worked my way up to do the Job Medals by abusing Ramza and Crystal Farming and then got the UR2 first try. Once I finished this I thought to myself "You know...I should probably not ever complain about not having a high enough level UR to beat these Ultima missions, cuz I just cleared Tidus with level 1 Ur abilities" And so I played for 7 hours straight through the night and went from 6/18 to 14/18 characters, went to work and did the other 4 once I was home. I was holding off on trying these missions because seeing "Win with 6000 Points" was so intimidating and I put it off. Now that I have them all cleared, I can honestly say it wasn't that bad cuz I severely underestimated the value of the General URs.
