6 months since my second Botox shot……
and I’m still burping!!
Firstly I would like to thank everyone that has posted on the sub, it’s been amazing to read all of your stories and outcomes of your treatment.
I found this sub at 2am one morning when I had been out eating and drinking and couldn’t sleep as I was in so much pain. I had my first consultation 3 weeks later and had 100 units under GA in June. To start it was amazing! The bloat and gurgling had gone, no more worrying about what I was going to eat or drink and could do whatever I wanted, I was living my best life! Unfortunately it didn’t last and by the 4-5 month mark I was only burping 4 little ones a day and my symptoms were back to 80%. I was disappointed but I also knew that it might not work. I then had 100 units in office in November and I’ve just had a fizzy drink and burped all the fizz away.
Some of my top tips for your recovery.
Don’t compare your recovery to others, the burps will happen when they happen.
Things might get worse before they get better, your symptoms won’t disappear straight away.
Wedge pillow to sleep on.
Children’s pain relief (liquid) to help for the first couple of days.
Gaviscon Advance (UK) to help with reflux.
Your throat will feel bubbly and weird at the start and the burps might feel wet. This will pass.
Slow swallow - very small bites, chew and chew and chew and if needed follow with a mouthful of liquid, again this will pass.
Don’t bend at the waist always squat, to prevent regurgitation.
Your burps will taste of the food that you have eaten. It will be strange in the beginning but you will get used to it.
Remember it’s a marathon not a sprint. You want to be able to burp once the Botox has worn off.
