Has anyone else noticed we seem to have way fewer phone choices in Australia now?

maybe its just me but shopping for a new phone in Australia feels way more limited than it used to...
once you move past Samsung, Apple and Google, it feels like a lot of phones you see people recommending online either arent officially available here, are harder to find or just dont make as much sense once you see the Australian pricing

and its kinda annoying because there are so many interesting phones being launched globally rn

i dont really want to import something either because then theres warranty, network compatibility and support to think about

has the Australian phone market actually gotten smaller or am i just noticing it more now that im looking to upgrade?

also curious what everyone here is using. did you just pick from whats easily available locally or did anyone actually import a phone because they couldnt find what they wanted here?

I feel like Motorola used to be a bigger name, and now it feels like Samsung/Apple dominate everything. Has anyone else noticed this shift?

I've been thinking about this since the past few days and growing up Motorola was always one of those names that used to come up when people talked about phones, right there with the top options. Now when i see people asking for recommendations, its always either Samsung or iphone, no one even brings up any other option up

I am not saying that anything changed about the phone but just feels like they slowly stopped being a part of the conversation

Was this just a result of marketing or is something else influencing this, I am just curious, because phones belonging to other brands also have good specs

Maybe its just me, but have you all noticed this shift as well? what do you think changed?
