Google pixel 8 pro - software update problems solution

Hi, English is not my first language so sorry in advance for any misspelling.

I think I've solved the software updates issue (I hope it works for you too).

I've had my pixel 8 pro for almost 2 years now, and from 1 year ago on I've had the same issue as others, I couldn't download the software update (mainly issues with the Google play update); I've searched everywhere for a solution and ATM that's what I do to have the download go right and actually install.

Here's the passages I follow:

  1. Pixel needs to be turned off and refrigerated (I really put it in the refrigerator for 10 mins) because Bluetooth and WiFi have antennas on the sides of the phone while we don't have heat sensors there (that's why they stop working more or less frequently). After that I check if it is cold or not, you might want to consider 2/3 more minutes in the freezer (pls away from water).

That way when you turn the phone on again everything will work again (not what you usually expect from a phone I paid little more than 1k but you gotta work with what you've got);

  1. You need to turn off DNS (WiFi settings. Not automatic, it needs to be OFF!);

  2. Google VPN needs to be OFF (same as DNS. Again, internet settings)

  3. I download the update with WiFi and it actually goes okay, from time to time you need to restart and that's frustrating, but I haven't found any other way of doing that, and neither have Google support.

ALSO you might want to consider turning it off again for 1 minute between passage 3 and 4.

Hope that helps others too, it's a lot of work to just update a phone but again, we work with what we have.
