I made a small app to keep training for the Camino at home: your daily steps walk you along the real route, town by town

Hi all! I'm a solo developer from Spain. While people prepare for their Camino, the hardest part is often keeping up the daily walks, so I made a small iPhone/Android game around that.

Your real daily steps (Apple Health or Health Connect) move you along the actual Camino Portugués or the Francés from Sarria at real scale, town by town, so by the time you leave you already know the stages and the names of the places you'll sleep in. Little things happen on the way (a dog follows you, rain, a pilgrim asks for a photo) and you choose to stop or keep going.

Honest notes: the first route is free, others are one-time purchases, no ads or subscriptions. The route data comes from OpenStreetMap; the pixel-art postcards were made with an AI tool.

I'd really value feedback from people preparing their first Camino: would something like this help you keep training? What would make it more useful?

I built a Pokémon Tamagotchi inside a 3D-printed Pokéball — open source, files on MakerWorld 🔴⚪

A round AMOLED dev board had been sitting on my desk for months, so I finally turned it into the gadget kid-me always wanted: a Pokémon Tamagotchi that lives inside a 3D-printed Pokéball.

You pick a starter, it hatches from an egg, and then you feed it / play / bathe it / let it sleep while it grows, evolves, and one day says goodbye — all on the round screen. All 151 + shinies, a Pokédex, medals, daily care streaks, 6 languages.

It was NOT a smooth build — at one point I literally peeled the AMOLED flex off the board and had to wait for a replacement 😅 — but it's alive now and I'm pretty happy with it.

Printing notes (for this sub):

- The shell is a remix of yoyothechicken's excellent Pokéball (print-in-place hinge + magnet closure) — full credit to them.

- No AMS needed: each part is a single color (red top / white bottom / black band), just swap filament per part.

- The screen-window dome needs supports; the rest prints clean.

Tech, for the curious:

- Waveshare ESP32-S3 round AMOLED (466×466, touch), 1S LiPo + a tiny speaker

- Firmware is open source and flashes straight from the browser (ESP Web Tools) — one click for firmware, one for the sprites, no Arduino IDE

- Sprites are community pixel art from PMD SpriteCollab (CC BY-NC)

Free, non-commercial fan project (CC BY-NC-SA). Files + print profiles on MakerWorld, source + the browser installer on GitHub — links in a comment.

Happy to answer anything about the build or the firmware!

I made a live flight radar that shows the real planes flying around you — 3D printed + open source. Inspired in DBZ radar

Been working on this little desk gadget and finally happy with it, so sharing here 🙂

It's a live flight radar: a round touch AMOLED on an ESP32 board that pulls real air-traffic data over WiFi and plots the actual aircraft flying around me in real time — rotated by heading, colour-coded by altitude, with an animated sweep. It even draws the real coastline and nearby airports under the scope, and if you tap a plane you get its details, its route (from → to) and a photo of the aircraft.

The whole shell is 3D printed (printed mine on my Bambu). It's a simple print — single colour, no AMS needed, AMS for Capsule Corp logo in the back — and there's no soldering: all the electronics are on one Waveshare board.

It's open source and you flash it straight from your browser (no coding/toolchain), then enter your WiFi from your phone. There are a few themes, units, sound alerts, battery support, etc.

Model + files + flasher here: https://makerworld.com/es/models/2907695-capsule-radar-live-flight-radar-desk-gadget#profileId-3251530

Happy to answer anything — and I'd love to see it if anyone prints one!
