24M & 24F How much are you supposed to sacrifice for someone you love who’s struggling with addiction?
I’m a 24M. met my 24F girlfriend in California but her roots are in Austin, so I moved to Texas because I truly believed we were building a future together. We were together for 5 months in California. Met about 9 months before.
Shortly after I got here, she went to detox. It was supposed to be 7 days, but she stayed for 28. During that time I was alone, paying all the bills, starting over in a new state where I knew literally nobody. I supported her getting help, but emotionally it was one of the hardest things I’ve been through.(We couldn’t talk but a few times)
She came home less than a week ago and already relapsed. Now she wants to go back for a much longer treatment program, which I genuinely support if that’s what she needs. But she also told me she couldn’t fully take treatment seriously because I wanted her to come home, and that really hurt. I never wanted her to leave treatment if she wasn’t ready.
The biggest issue is that I don’t feel emotionally cared for. Her apologies feel short and detached, and I don’t feel like she understands what I’ve sacrificed to be here. I truly love this woman, but everything that’s happened has made me question whether she loves me the same way.
I’m honestly thinking about telling her to go to treatment, but ending the relationship because I feel like I’ve already given everything I had.
How long do I stay ? I loved my life in California, it’s been terrible here for me so far but I love my job that I have now and I would figure myself out. I’m just torn at if this whole situation is really a waste.
What should I do?
Location: Los Angeles California.
I was assaulted and had ligament tears in right shoulder and had to get all 4 of my front teeth replaced with crowns due to the assault(over6k in dental damage out of pocket) I’m only 24 and had to have my mom help me pay it. MY MOM PAID IT!!! . I work in a sober living (I live where I work) I manage the place. Essentially it’s like an adult group home for mental illness and substance abuse. They aren’t a huge company but they didn’t give me my workman’s comp paperwork or tell me how to do it. The owner was actually here when I got assaulted. Idk what to expect if I try to try to sue. Ive actually built a really strong relationship with the owners over the last year but I feel like I was neglected in this situation. I was blatantly attacked and somehow I could’ve handled the situation better ? What should I expect? If I wanted to just approach the owners and tell them to give me 20k instead of legal action? I’m going to have to end up replacing my veneers every 7-10 yrs. It’s expensive!! What would be a better outcome ? What should I do ?
