I have a heavily planted, low tech tank with one Betta fish. I recently (about 2 months ago) bought a Fluval Aqua Sky light. My plants are Amazon swords, 2 Anubias, and a few Anacharis. I added Red Root Floaters today. My plants seem to be doing well, but I’ve had a minor but persistent outbreak of diatoms, and I’ve read that it’s good to monitor Nitrate and potassium to help determine when to use fertilizers.
I check my Nitrate levels weekly when I test the tank parameters, but I cannot find a potassium test kit for freshwater tanks—only reef tanks. Can I use the kit for reef tanks on my freshwater aquarium?
Any advice would be appreciated.
