Open Dots 2 for calistenics

Hi all,

I never had any clip on ear buds. I would be interested by the open dots 2.

My main activity is calisthenics. It includes skills like handstand push ups, muscle ups, front lever, back lever, ... So going upside down is quite common.

Has anyone tried the open dots 2 in these conditions ? A bit concerned that they would fall off.

Kitesurfing in Zanzibar, honest review

Hi all!

(My kite level is independent rider, not a pro)

If you are looking into a trip to Zanzibar as a kite holiday, I'd like to share my experience. I would have appreciated similar posts before booking.

Been staying in Paje for 2 weeks.

Pros:

  • Multiple lagoon makes it possible to kite regardless of the tide.

  • water is super flat at low tide which makes it great for beginners

  • no need for a wetsuit, a lycra and swim trunks is good enough

  • Sandy beaches and blue water

  • sea food is great and prices were still reasonable. (Even though inflated for tourists)

Cons:

  • light wind even in high season. More suitable with bigger kites (flew mainly 17m here with a few exceptions)

  • less stable winds than advertised on many kite websites. Winds is usually stronger around the end of the day. (We were not very lucky in the mornings)

  • if you are a tourist (not African looking). You will get constantly harassed by sellers on the beach and streets. It becomes quite draining as they insist even if you say no (even if you are eating at the restaurant). This include sales of massage, bracelets, fruits, tours (all offers the same tours), jet-ski, ... If leaving the beach side and go into the streets, it's even worse. You will be invited into every single shops. This is the main reason I will not come back here.

  • expect 5% extra taxes when paying by card. ATM withdrawal also comes with additional fees from tanzanian banks.

  • (EDIT) Hazard on the spots to be aware of are algea farms. Expect sticks sticking out of the water at low tide (sometimes barely visible). Boats (parked) are present, and be careful where you step because of sea urchins (some of them are massive)

  • (EDIT) haven't seen any rescue boat.

Overall, I still had a good time and the kite school (B4Kite in Paje) greatly contributed to that. Super friendly staff (also IKO certified instructors). Even if you come with your own gear, you can expect good advices about the spot, help to setup your gear and good vibes when waiting for the wind to start blowing.

Hope this will help some of you making an educated decision before purchasing plane tickets!
