We bought an apartment as that needs a remodel a few years ago, with plans to eventually move over full time, until very recently that has all been on hold.

We contacted family and we will be meeting them for the first time! They were nice enough to go to the comune and get family records for us!

We want to bring a gift pack as a thank you. The only thing they mentioned wanting from the US was maple syrup. I'm thinking a Trader Joe's bag too since they're so popular? What else?

TLDR: do any of you have suggestions for things to put in a gift pack from the US? Things your Italian friends or family request?

I own a property in Italy that is about to undergo renovation. The Enel electricity contract is in my name, but my property manager set it up and currently pays the bills.

I recently discovered a huge usage spike (from 0 kWh to over 400 kWh), which doubled my bill. No one flagged it. I only caught it by checking my own records.

Needless to say, I want the bills to come directly to me now and I’m also looking for a new property manager (I can end my contract any time and don't care I've already paid for the year's service). I don’t have an Italian bank account, but Enel says PayPal is accepted.

Can I transfer management/payment to myself now, or do I need to wait until I’m in Italy in a few months? Has anyone done this as a foreign owner?
