i give Linux Mint Cinnamon a modern neon-inspired look with adapta theme and candy icons, have a look

I spent some time customizing a fresh Linux Mint Cinnamon installation and ended up with a clean neon-inspired desktop that I'm pretty happy with.

The setup uses a few well-known components:

  • Adapta Color Pack theme
  • Candy Icons
  • Plank dock
  • Transparent panel
  • Magic Lamp window animation
  • Coverflow/Timeline Alt+Tab switcher
  • Weather desklet with OpenWeatherMap

The goal wasn't to make Mint look like another operating system, but just to modernize it while keeping the Cinnamon workflow intact.

I put together a step-by-step video showing the entire process—from installing the theme and icons to configuring the dock, weather widget, and animations—in case anyone is interested in trying something similar.

I'm also curious:
What are your favorite Cinnamon customizations or themes? I'm always looking for new ideas for future desktop setups.

Nordic theme with plank is awesome

https://youtu.be/GWvisPojnJ4

I spent some time customizing it using:

  • Nordic GTK Theme
  • Papirus Icons
  • Plank Dock (Teleporty theme)
  • Conky Clock
  • Nordic Wallpapers

it still feels just as lightweight and responsive as the default setup.

if anyone used this ,please share ur screenshots

using chatgpt in Gnome shell is quite easy

https://youtu.be/Vvoqjv9H3WA

anyone here using ChatGPT directly from the Linux terminal?

I recently set up Shell-GPT (sgpt) on my GNOME desktop, and it's surprisingly useful.

Instead of opening a browser every time I need help, I can simply type something like:

sgpt "Explain this command"

or

sgpt "Write a bash script to back up my Documents folder"

It responds right in the terminal, which feels much more natural when you're already working on the command line, found it useful for:

  • Explaining Linux commands
  • Writing Bash scripts
  • Troubleshooting errors
  • Generating Git commands
  • Summarizing logs
  • Quick programming help
  • Command-line productivity in general

it uses the OpenAI API, so you'll need an API key with available credits

For those who've tried terminal AI tools:Do you use Shell-GPT, llm, Aider, Ollama, or something else? Has it actually improved your workflow, or do you still prefer using the browser?

I'd love to hear what everyone is using and whether there are better CLI AI tools worth trying.

Why doesn't GitHub officially support GitHub Desktop on Linux?

GitHub officially supports GitHub Desktop on Windows and macOS, but NOT on Linux, I did it from the community-maintained ShiftKey build.

https://github.com/shiftkey/desktop

I actually installed it on Linux Mint with some searching,

genuinely curious why Microsoft/GitHub has never made it official.though i installed it using the link and process given there.

Would love to hear your thoughts because this has always seemed like a weird omission to me.

Upgrading to Zorin OS Pro using a community script, i think you should give it a try...

I tested a community-made script that upgrades Zorin OS Community/Education to a Pro-like experience. This is an unofficial community project and isn't affiliated with the Zorin OS developers. If you enjoy Zorin OS, consider purchasing Pro to support the project.

I'd love to hear your thoughts—would you buy Zorin OS Pro or customize the free version yourself?

Switched from Linux Mint to Zorin OS Pro and finally fixed my keyboard & mouse issues

Had an annoying keyboard and mouse issue on Mint that I couldn't figure out.

Recently switched to Zorin Pro and upgraded to a newer kernel. Not sure which one fixed it, but the issue hasn't shown up since.

Everything's been working great so far.
