why can't I get the other ending?

I just finished the game for the second time, I couldn't shoot the laser guide, I miss my shot and I still get killed, I tried shooting it on less lethal area, still I get the true ending, I couldn't get the other one

why can't I play at a specific chapter? Metro 2033

I've finished the game and got the bad ending since I shot the Dark one following Hunter's motto.

looking back, it was stupid since Hunter then became a facist.

anyway tho, I wanted to get the good ending and when I pick the chapter, and start it, the game crashed, and when I tried to start it again, my PC said "safe mode"? why is that? but then I press "new game" and it works no lag or anything, is it something to do with the Saving being corrupted or something?
